Russell County investigators arrested a man on numerous charges, including abduction and sexual battery of a 12-year-old or younger, after an investigation into an incident involving a dog.
According to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), investigators began looking into Mitchel Stevens McReynolds, 61, after receiving complaints about a dog. The RCSO started its investigation after an alleged incident on or around July 9.
As investigators looked further into the July complaint, they reportedly found evidence that led to the dog being removed and taken to a veterinarian for examination. The dog was later released to animal control’s custody, a news release from the RCSO states.
McReynolds was interviewed at the sheriff’s office on Aug. 7, and he was arrested that same day. McReynolds was charged with one felony count of sexual contact with an animal.
