A lcouple died holdings hands after thieves interrupted them having sex, shot them and buried them alive so they could steal their Volkswagen SUV.
Gennady Andreev, 39, and his accomplice Ruslan Klemenchuk, 36, ambushed their victims in a forest belt near Gutyrivka, Ukraine.
Businessman Yury Beznischenko, 44, and his lover Alla Vitryak, 40, often came to the forest belt to spend time together.
The couple had been coming to the same place on certain days of the week and the criminals knew that, the Poltava Regional Court heard.
In June 2016, Andreev and Klemenchuk ambushed the couple and attacked them while they were making love.
Reports say Andreev shot Yury in the head and demanded Alla to hand over her gold jewellery. After she did so, he shot her in the head as well.
After that, the attackers buried their victims, who begged not to be killed, in the forest.
Police spokesman Ruslan Biryukov said: 'Andreev and Klemenchuk shot the victims and buried them. The victims were still alive. The man and the woman died holding hands in their grave.'
After murdering the couple, Andreev took Yury's Volkswagen Touareg home and hid it in the garage.
A year later Andreev tried to sell the parts of the car on the Internet and was caught by police.
Cornered with evidence, the attacker showed to officers the place where he and his accomplice buried the victims.
It took the cops about five hours to unearth the bodies.
On December 2 this year, previously convicted Gennady Andreev was jailed for life and his accomplice Ruslan Klemenchuk was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
