A Great Mills man with a violent criminal history is being held without bond in St. Mary’s County following what prosecutors describe as a terrifying armed assault and a chaotic foot pursuit that spilled into live traffic on Three Notch Road.
Tyrone Edward Proctor, 40, is facing a series of felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he pointed a handgun at his wife’s head during a domestic confrontation, then fled from officers across multiple travel lanes while causing several vehicles to swerve and brake suddenly to avoid hitting him.
Continue readingCourt documents allege the incident began the night of July 18, when Proctor became verbally and physically aggressive toward his wife inside their bedroom. She told police that after refusing to respond to his taunts, Proctor grabbed her by the neck, pressed her against a wall and repeatedly struck her in the face. The woman eventually began packing her belongings to leave, and Proctor allegedly retrieved a handgun, pointed it at her head and said, “You scared now?”
The victim told officers she stood still, terrified, as Proctor held the gun to her head. She was eventually able to gather her belongings and exit the residence. She then drove herself to the commissioner’s office to report the incident. Officers noted she had no visible facial injuries at the time of reporting, though she described being struck multiple times and strangled against a wall.
