Authorities in California are investigating after a 22-month-old boy was reportedly found dead in a hot car on Wednesday.
The Fullerton Police Department said in a statement that they responded to West Wilshire Ave at 3:30 p.m. amid reports of an unresponsive child in a vehicle. Responding officers and paramedics attempted to save the toddler, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s not immediately known how long the child was left in the car. Temperatures were in the mid-80s on Wednesday.
The child’s body was turned over to the Orange County Coroner’s Office, who will determine a cause and manner of death.
Police said the toddler’s family has been cooperating with their ongoing investigation. KCBS reported that police believe the child’s death was accidental.
