CORONA, Calif. -- Authorities are appealing for help as they investigate a shooting that killed an 18-year-old woman and seriously wounded a 19-year-old social media influencer as they watched “The Forever Purge" at a Southern California movie theater.

The teens from Corona were found by theater workers cleaning up after the 9:35 p.m. showing of the violent horror movie at The Crossings mall in Corona, southeast of Los Angeles, Officer Tobias Kouroubacalis told KTLA-TV.

Rylee Goodrich was dead, and Anthony Barajas was on life support, police said.

Barajas, known online as itsanthonymichael, has nearly a million followers on TikTok, and more on other platforms.

Detectives recovered evidence from the theater, but no gun, police said. Police didn't provide a possible motive or other details. Detectives were still trying to identify a possible shooter or shooters, police said.

“I’m being told right now there were six tickets purchased for that movie showing,” Kouroubacalis told KABC-TV.

“We’re asking for anyone who might have been inside that movie, or a theater adjacent to that, for any information at all,” Kouroubacalis said.

Update:
The suspect, 20-year-old Joseph Jimenez, was booked Tuesday night on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and robbery. He is being held on $2 million bail.

A firearm that matched the caliber of the weapon used in the shooting was found at his home.

No gun recovered, but I guess they got bullet casings since the article says evidence was found. Presumably there were only 6 tickets sold because this was a special showing of the movie.

I never even watched the first one.
First one was good I thought but in all Hollywood style they have to bleed something until it's a big pile of shit.

Because of shit like this is one of the many reasons I dont go to theaters anymore

Authorities say it appeared to be an unprovoked attack and believe he acted alone.
The shooting happened just before midnight Monday at the Regal Edwards Corona Crossings during a showing of "The Forever Purge."
A Wednesday press conference, Kouroubacalis said Jimenez was in possession of a ticket for that showing, but did not clarify if it was purchased or obtained another way.

So far, there is no indication that the suspect knew the victims or had any prior contact with them, he added.
The suspect acted alone, and there’s no indication he knew the victims or that Barajas’ role as a TikTok influencer played a role in the crime, Corona police Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis told reporters Wednesday.

“It was completely unprovoked, and the victims were shot without any kind of prior contact,” he said.
Kouroubacalis did not release specifics as to what led to locating the suspect but said witnesses "in the area" came forward with information that helped them.

"During the search of the residence, a firearm and additional evidence related to the crime scene were discovered. The firearm matched the caliber of the weapon used in the murder," police stated in a press release.

It all has sounds of upper middle class life but the kids were on the right path of doing shit for themselves..

Goodrich's cousin Ashley Cole described her loved one as someone with a "great heart" and motivated to help others, including her family and younger sister.

Barajas was a standout soccer player at Mater Dei High. He has many followers on his social media pages, with more than 40,000 followers on his Instagram and more than 920,000 followers on TikTok.
Goodrich attended Corona High and played volleyball, ran track and was also a cheerleader. She was given a scholarship to Grand Canyon University in its STEM program (science, technology, engineering and math). She was home for the summer visiting family in Corona and had recently started an eyelash business.

TikTok star Anthony Barajas dies days after movie theater shooting

A popular TikTok star died from his injuries days after a man opened fire inside a Southern California movie theater during a screening of "The Forever Purge," police said Saturday.

Anthony Barajas, 19, was the second victim killed in Monday's shooting. Corona police previously identified the first victim as Rylee Goodrich, 18.

Authorities said Barajas and Goodrich were at the Regal Edwards Theatre in Corona, about 50 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, for a 9:35 p.m. showing of the action-horror film. Workers cleaning up the theater after the movie ended discovered two people had been shot in the head, according to a statement from Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin.

Goodrich was pronounced dead and Barajas was taken to the hospital and placed on life support. Corona police said Barajas died early Saturday morning.

CORONA, Calif. — A man accused of fatally shooting two young people inside a Southern California movie theater last July has pleaded not guilty, and not guilty by reason of insanity, to two counts of murder.

Joseph Jimenez, 20, did not speak during Monday’s hearing at the Riverside Hall of Justice, letting his attorney enter the pleas, the Press-Enterprise reported.

The two different not-guilty pleas were necessary, said John Hall, a spokesman for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, because there would be two phases if the case goes to trial: a guilt phase, and a phase to determine whether Jimenez was insane.

Attorneys are scheduled to return to court on Oct. 22 to discuss the appointment of a defense psychiatrist, the newspaper said.

Joseph Jimenez was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the fatal shooting of two teenagers during a showing of "The Forever Purge."
Jimenez was declared sane at the conclusion of a bench trial in December, clearing the way for his conviction of two counts of first-degree murder special circumstance allegations of lying in wait and taking multiple lives, as well as sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations.
