Police are hunting for a thief who doused a Staten Island deli employee with pepper spray before taking off with an entire cash register, cops said.
Video released by police late Monday shows the suspect, wearing a face mask and gloves, standing at the counter. When the cashier appeared to move something out of his reach, the thief discharged the pepper spray, the clip shows.
Then he picked up the entire register and took off, the video shows. It’s unclear how much cash was inside.
The employee was taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was treated for pain and redness to his eyes, and later released.
