Albuquerque police responded to assist a state Children, Youth, and Families Department officer investigating a woman and her 2-year-old daughter. The welfare check was just before 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.
Court documents show 40-year-old Jessica Crespin was found at a bus stop with her daughter wearing just a diaper in the rain.
Crespin told the officers that the devil told her to injury her child's neck and wrists. Court records show she was in possession of a box cutter. Crespin also admitted to consuming methamphetamine hours before speaking with law enforcement.
The child was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and a drug screening.

Crespin was charged with with child abuse not resulting in great bodily harm or death.
