CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. – Police arrested a 17-year-old girl after she crashed her vehicleinto an Indiana home Wednesday night, killing two sisters inside, according to officials.

Family members said the girls, 17-year-old Haleigh and 9-year-old Callie Fullerton, were watching TV in the living room when the car plowed into the house just before 9:30 p.m. They were killed on impact, according to WXIN-TV.

It's still unclear what caused the driver, who police say was traveling at about 80 miles per hour, to lose control, sending the car careening into the home, located 100 feet away from the roadway.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office says they asked the prosecutor to charge the driver with criminal recklessness resulting in death. At a press conference earlier in the day, officials with the sheriff's office said the driver may have been under the influence of opioids and she could face more serious charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury if the presence of opioids is confirmed.

When Clinton County Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene, they found a white vehicle in the living room. Several people were still in the vehicle, according to the sheriff's department.

The girls' mother, 37-year-old Bridget Fullerton, was walking into the room as the car came crashing through the home; she was flown by helicopter to an Indianapolis-area hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown at this time.

A third sibling was upstairs at the time of the crash, and he was uninjured. Father Dennis Fullerton was not home when it happened.

Investigators say there were three other juveniles in the car at the time of the crash. They were treated with non-life threatening injuries at the scene.

The home has major damage, and local members of the Fullertons' church helped secure it.

The vehicle involved in the incident has been impounded by authorities. The driver was taken to the juvenile detention center in Delaware County.

The prosecutor's office will determine if the 17-year-old driver will face charges as an adult.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for those who would like to provide donations for the Fullertons.

Oh My God. This is so sad. :(

*Sigh* so many lives ruined by just one person being stupid. I'm sorry to the family or Haleigh and Callie, sitting at home watching TV, hurting nothing and nobody and stupid happens to them. It just boggles the mind.

You don't let your teenager go joyriding with friends during flood warnings, central Indiana has been under flood warning ALL week.... SMH Those 2 little girls would be here if someone had taken the keys in the first place.

The driver needs to be charged as an adult, with the highest possible crime. She drove 100 feet from the road to the house and was still travelling at 80 mph, fast enough to smash through to the interior of the house and kill those two innocent girls. No mercy or reduced sentence because the driver was only 17. She was old enough to get high and drive recklessly and kill two girls, so she is old enough to face the consequences as an adult. If she gets off, or a serious reduction in charges or sentence because she is a cute white girl, I will be seriously pissed.

Good ... I hope she enjoys jail ... and the bus!

This is me thinking everyone ... (judges and lawyers) learned something from the Ethan Couch matter ... But I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

I couldn't find it if it's already here.

Alia Sierra is facing ten felony charges, including two counts of reckless homicide for the July 12 crash that killed Haleigh Fullerton, 17, and Callie Fullerton, 8.

According to WXIN-TV, the girls’ mother, Bridget Fullerton, was walking into the room as the car came crashing through the home; she was flown by helicopter to an Indianapolis-area hospital for treatment. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Sierra is also facing multiple felony charges of operating a vehicle under the influence. According to court documents, a urine screen taken after the crash showed she tested positive for opiates.

Detectives determined she was driving 107 mph when she went off the road, through a ditch and field before crashing into the Fullerton residence.

Four juveniles between the ages of 12 and 17 were also in the car with Sierra at the time of the crash. The front passenger told detectives he asked Sierra to slow down before they hit a bump that sent them off the roadway.

Another passenger in the back seat told detectives he had asked Sierra to let him out of the car several times because she was going too fast.

The teen driver convicted of crashing her car into a Clinton County home and killing sisters Haleigh Fullerton, 17, and Callie Fullerton, 8, learned her punishment Thursday.

Back in September, 18-year-old Alia Sierra pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless homicide in last year’s crash. On Thursday, a judge sentenced her to 6 years. She’ll spend 2 years in the Department of Correction, 2 years under house arrest in Community Corrections and 2 years on probation.

The judge denied the request from Sierra’s attorneys to keep the case in juvenile court. Despite the fact she was 17 in July 2017 when the crash occurred, the judge said the juvenile system doesn’t provide enough options for treatment or consequences.

Police also said at the time that Sierra was high on opiates, but Sierra’s attorneys argued that further drug tests came back negative.

Investigators said Sierra was traveling more than 100 miles an hour when she lost control of the car and drove through the Fullerton’s home which is more than 100 feet from the roadway. Other teens in the car with Sierra told police they asked her to slow down.
