A Reno father is accused of beating his 5-year-old daughter, who was found dead with bruising on her face, pelvis, hips, arms and genitals.
Nicholas Loving, 35, has been charged with child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm, a felony.
On April 4, first responders found the unresponsive girl on a crib-sized mattress on the floor of a five-bedroom home in Cold Springs, according to court documents.

The responders found the girl had "oral trauma and apparent bruises, cuts, scabs and scraps to arms, legs, torso and face including one black eye and a gash over her other eye," according to a report by Washoe County Sheriff's Detective Joe Aceves.

The girl "had over 10 separate injuries, easily seen on her face alone," the report said.
Aceves wrote that Loving told investigators he never hit his daughter and she was prone to falling. Loving said his daughter had fallen out of his truck twice as he explained some of the injuries.

The detective noted Loving's story changed when he was asked to repeat it.
Loving also said the girl had been sick for nine to 10 days and had been coughing up blood and mucus, according to court records. The family told the detective they were waiting until day 12 to take her to a doctor.
Loving told police he sometimes kept the girl locked in a 5-by-5-foot cubby.

His wife, Andrea Loving, told police the girl was sometimes locked in there as punishment for things such as stealing candy from her parents' room.

The couple said they waited hours to call for help after the girl was found dead because they had recently been part of a Child Protective Services investigation, court documents said.
According to the detective's report, Andrea Loving acknowledged seeing her husband kick the girl's genitals and carrying her by the hood or collar of her sweatshirt. She said that five days before the girl's death, she heard her husband yelling and then a loud thud against the wall as if he had thrown the child, court documents said.

"I should go to jail for not helping her and Nick should go to jail for killing her," Andrea Loving said, according to court documents.

Izabella has four siblings who witnessed their sister being abused and tortured.

I just don't understand how someone can do this to a five year old. Kids can push your buttons but this is drawn out, systematic abuse. Like, at what point did he think, "Let me murder this child instead of just walking away."

I don't understand the continual torture, they have to make a decision, on some level in their deranged minds to get up everyday and torture the child. Today I'm going to eat in front of her and not let her eat, make her kneel in a corner on rice for hours on end, force her to stand holding #10 cans of vegetables over her head until she can't stand no more, and then just laugh and beat her when she falls over.

I do not understand the type of people who can do things like that to small children. It's like it's fun for them. It does not make any sense to me.

Nicholas Loving, the 35-year-old Cold Springs man charged in the death of his 5-year-old daughter, was previously convicted of felony child abuse in 2014, court records show.

According to documents obtained by News 4-Fox 11 Wednesday, Loving was initially charged with 2 counts of child abuse and one count of domestic battery stemming from an incident involving his then-girlfriend's 2-year-old son.
He pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse causing substantial bodily harm and ultimately served 60 months probation.

Now, he is again charged with one count of child abuse/neglect resulting in substantial bodily harm in the death of 5-year-old Izebella Loving.
According to Reno Police records filed in the 2014 case, Loving told police he bit the 2-year-old boy on the right shoulder, 'leaving distinct teeth patterns on the child's right shoulder,' because he was rambunctious after a bath. He also admitted to pulling the child up by the arm, which 'most likely caused (a) spiral fracture.'
Loving told police that he 'did not mean to harm the child, but agreed the child had the broken arm because he lost his temper.'

Washoe County Judge Elliott Sattler technically sentenced Loving to a prison term up to 96 months, but Sattler suspended the prison sentence and sentenced him to 5 years of probation.
The lighter sentence came after Loving's attorney argued for leniency, saying that he felt genuinely remorseful, was gainfully employed and a good support system.

oh boy they sure learn their lessons when given lenient sentences... in this case he sure learned how to control his temper, how to walk away if he thinks he might loose it, and now charged again with only with child abuse or neglect grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and of course he didn't mean to hurt his daughter and he is genuinely feeling rmorse for killing her ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr murder is murder and that is actually what he committed

Local ABC affiliate KOLO and the Reno Gazette Journal obtained a probable cause arrest affidavit that further details the allegations. Izabella’s mother, who has not been charged with a crime, reportedly told investigators that she had seen Loving kick their daughter in the genitals and drag her across the room by her sweatshirt in the days leading up to her death.
For roughly 10 days, Izabella had been throwing up blood and mucus, her mother reportedly said. On the night in question, the mother stated Izabella’s body temperature was 96 or 97 degrees so she gave Izabella a bath and she “seemed fine,” according to the affidavit. Loving then put her to bed in a small box with a lock on it.
“Nicholas admitted that they would sometimes keep Izabella in a small make-shift cubby (located on scene by the detectives, approximately 5′ by 5′) in the girls room,” the affidavit reportedly stated. “He admitted having locked her inside on one occasion but that [the mother] mostly put Izabella inside of it.”
One of their other children awoke the parents around midnight to say they saw Izabella vomiting. Two hours later, Loving opened the box to find the girl unresponsive. But instead of calling 911 Loving allegedly tried to plan his next steps to save himself. The mother reportedly told investigators her husband would not permit her to call 911.
Loving at first allegedly suggested the family, including their other kids ages 4, 7 and 10, and make a “run” for it after burying Izabella’s body in the backyard. Then, he allegedly came up with another plan.

“Ultimately, they decided to remove Izabella from the cubby, drag her and her bed across the room and stage it there,” the complaint reportedly said. “Go with the story of them finding her at around 7 a.m. and they came up with explanations of her injuries, being that she fell multiple times or was hit with toys.”
The defendant also tried to blame some of the girl’s injuries on his other kids, including that they hit her with a plastic bat, according to the affidavit.

Izabella suffered from 10 separate injuries on her face, including a black eye and a gash above the other eye, cops reportedly wrote. She also had cuts and bruises on her pelvis, hips, both biceps and genitals, investigators noted.
Medical examiners are still trying to determine a cause and manner of death. Additional charges could be forthcoming against him and his wife. If his wife had a say, she’d be behind bars along with her husband.

“I should go to jail for not helping Izabella, Nick should go to jail for killing her,” she reportedly told detectives.

The mom needs to be arrested.

The mother of Izabella Loving is now facing charges in connection with her death.

Andrea Loving was walked into the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

According to their booking information, she is facing charges of child abuse and causing substantial bodily harm.

Laurie, a neighbor who lived across the street from the Lovings for a year, shared troubling details about her interactions with the family. She recalled seeing Izabella wearing a face mask, with Andrea explaining it was due to a Leukemia diagnosis. However, court documents obtained by the news team show no evidence of such a diagnosis.

After Izabella's death in April, Laurie had the opportunity to walk through the Loving home. She described the presence of security cameras, doors that locked from the outside, and unsanitary conditions, particularly in the master bathroom. Laurie also noted that Izabella had significantly fewer clothes than her siblings.

Izabella showed many “signs of trauma” on her face, hips, pelvis, arms and genitals, and had 10 injuries on her face including a black eye and a gash over her eye, the affidavit alleges, per the outlet.

Early in the investigation, the girl's father, Nicholas Loving, was arrested and charged with child abuse causing substantial bodily harm. It's unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
On her last night alive, Nicholas took Izabella's temperature, which he said was 96 or 97 degrees, gave her a bath before putting her to bed in a 5-by-5-foot box with a lock on it, the affidavit alleges, KOLO-TV reported.

“Nicholas admitted that they would sometimes keep Izabella in a small, make-shift cubby in the girls room,” sometimes as punishment, the affidavit alleges, per KOLO-TV. The affidavit states the couple's other two daughters slept in a "nice, queen-sized bed."
At about midnight, one of the couple's other two daughters woke up the parents saying Izabella was throwing up, the affidavit alleges.
Per the affidavit, Nicholas allegedly waited five hours to call 911 when Izabella was found unresponsive, KOLO-TV reported. Andrea allegedly told detectives Nicholas wouldn’t let her call 911.

According to the affidavit, Andrea allegedly said at the time, “I should go to jail for not helping her and Nick should go to jail for killing her," News4/Fox 11 reported.

Same with our discussions here. That poor helpless tiny beauty, who never asked to be born. Whatever the courts do, and whatever we say, helps her not a bit. It's for us. And that's the best we can do. Life is good, no matter what.
