Sentenced: Spartanburg Couple Charged In Connection With Death Of Woman's 5YO Daughter

A 5-year-old girl died after being brought from a motel to a hospital in Moore County Monday afternoon, police said.

The girl’s mother and her boyfriend are now charged in connection with the death of the child, Aberdeen Police Chief Carl Colasacco confirmed Monday night.

Cody Davis and Ashley Vinesett are both charged with felony child abuse, police said. Davis is also charged with murder.

Police said the child was killed Monday at the Super 8 Motel in Aberdeen, North Carolina.

Police told the Sandhills Sentinel that the couple took the child to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police confirmed the child was assaulted but did not provide a cause of death.
