An Iowa couple is behind bars after police say social media photos of an abused child led to a shocking discovery.

CBS 8 reports that that the Iowa Department of Human Services contacted police after seeing photos of a toddler with significant bruising. The Ottumwa Police subsequently launched an investigation.

At around 11 a.m. on Saturday, officers arrived at a home and found a child with injuries all over her head, face, and body. The child was taken to a local hospital for examination.

Several children in the home were removed and placed in the care of relatives while officials complete investigations. On Wednesday, authorities arrested 28-year-old Ashley Lindley-Moser and 24-year-old Donald Graham. Both have been charged with child endangerment causing bodily injury.

An unnamed family member provided the photos, according to police. The photos quickly spread across social media as the community began sharing them. Authorities confirmed that they’ve seen the photos, which is what initially sparked the investigation.

“These pictures, I think, speak for themselves,” Ottumwa Police Lt. Jason Bell said. “They are very shocking to look at.”

Court documents have revealed new information in the case of a brutally abuse of a toddler.

Ashley Lindley-Moser, 28, and her boyfriend, Donald Graham, 24, were arrested and charged with felony child endangerment.

The charges stem from a weekend investigation into the abuse of a 2-year-old girl.

Pictures posted on social media earlier this week once showed the child suffering from apparent injuries to her head and body. The pictures have since been removed from Facebook.

A criminal complaint filed accuses Graham of using unreasonable force and cruelty to inflict bodily injury on the child. Court records listed Graham as her guardian at the time.

Lindley-Moser, who is listed as the child’s mother, is accused of being an accessory to the crime.
Over the course of several months, police say Lindley-Moser allowed Graham to look after her children, even after he displayed violent tendencies.

Lindley-Moser admitted to authorities that she knew Graham had repeatedly beaten her 2-year-old daughter, and still allowed them to live under the same roof.

Lindley-Moser has pleaded not guilty to the crime, and each defendant has waived their right to a preliminary hearing.

Graham remains in custody on a $5,000 bond. Lindley-Moser is free on bond.

Police say the victim, and all children who were living with Lindley-Moser and Graham are now safe. Arrangements were made for the children to stay with relatives.

You don't have to see the bruises etc to tell that this poor child has been living in pain just look at those eyes and you can tell that it has been going on for awhile. You can see in those eyes that that poor child has given up there is no life left in those beautiful eyes. I should never look at pictures of abuse ever it hurts my heart to much and yes also my arms because i can't stretch them far enough to take those poor kids in my arms and shower them with love and promises that i will always protect them. Why oh why do i put myself through this but it seems i can't stay away from demon but at least here i can take my anger and frustration into writing and people here understand where i am at. I sure wish that somehow we could also change the laws so that people inflicting such vile acts would also get what they deserve and no excuses cuz they knew right from wrong and chose to do wrong to the most vulnerable beings to those they should love more than themselves and protect no matter what. To me just punishment would be to inflict on them the same thing they did to a child not for a few years but for as many years as the child normal life expectancy is and no not jail time cuz i don't want to pay for their comfort there but live free but with a tattoo that would be visible to all that would give anyone permission to afflict the pain on them, short of killing them of course, that they inflicted on the little ones and i bet you would see a big decline in child and elderly abuse and special needs people.

Those are weird bruises. Like little round ones. Like he was shooting pellets at her, or maybe fingertips? Or poking her? With something maybe.
They honestly look like pellet bruises.

A judge sentenced an Ottumwa man to seven years in prison last week after he pled guilty to multiple counts of child endangerment.

Donald Vincent Graham, 26, of Ottumwa, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Graham was charged in 2020 with multiple counts and degrees of child endangerment. The charges were filed after authorities discovered multiple children under his supervision over a period of time had been subjected to poor living conditions and were not given proper medical or legal attention for numerous injuries.

According to prosecutors, Graham had locked children in rooms with no ability to leave to use the restroom, causing the children to soil themselves. Additionally, prosecutors said children crying from significant injuries were ignored, and the home the children lived in was covered with trash and dog excrement.

Allen Cook, an attorney for Graham, argued for a suspended prison sentence with probation because his client did not inflict the injuries upon the children himself. Prosecutors rebutted that argument, citing "the lack of humanity necessary to allow these children to suffer without Graham ever seeking help for them despite being the adult in charge of them."

Daily said an imposed prison sentence was appropriate, particularly given the egregiousness of injury to one child in particular, according to an account of the sentencing hearing from prosecutors.

"The state appreciates and is thankful for this imposed sentence, specifically because prison is an appropriate punishment for those who are comfortable allowing children to suffer," said a statement by County Attorney Reuben Neff.

A conviction was entered for two counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury, five counts of child endangerment, third-degree burglary and eluding.

A co-defendant, Ashley Karen Lindly-Moser, faces similar charges and allegations. She has pled not guilty.
