A Camden County mother and father are facing charges after the mother allegedly molested her 7-year-old son and the father tried to hide the evidence.
A probable cause document filed in the Camden County Circuit Court says 26-year-old Jessica McMannamy is facing seven charges related to molesting her son. Her husband, 34-year-old Mathew McMannamy, is also facing charges for allegedly trying to hide the evidence and for drug use.
The 7-year-old's grandmother found his iPod on June 19 and saw a video of what she believed to be child pornography involving her grandson and his mother. Court documents said the grandmother took the iPod to local law enforcement who investigated the findings.
In an interview with the child, the 7-year-old said he and his mother have a "secret" at bathtime where his mother would perform sexual acts on him and make the child do the same to her.
Deputies received a search warrant and went to Jessica and Mathew's home in Montreal, Missouri. Upon searching the residence, deputies found multiple glass pipes with a powdery residue believed to be methamphetamine. The document noted that all of the pipes were "located in plain view and easily accessible to a young child."
Investigators believe the video was transferred to the child's iPod via iCloud thus several electronic devices and other items were seized consistent with the molestation video, according to the document.
When the iPod was found and the investigation began, the child's mother Jessica was already incarcerated for crimes she committed in Laclede county on June 18.
In an interview with law enforcement on June 24, Jessica admitted to molesting her child while he was in the bathtub because "she was high on methamphetamine and curious what would happen," the document said. Jessica also stated that the pictures and videos found on the child's iPod were taken by her and that she feels like a horrible mom.
According to the document, a deputy asked her why she feels like a horrible mom and she replied "because I did that and I'm always high."
Mathew admitted to law enforcement that he knew about his wife molesting his child, the document said. He also stated that after he saw the video, he confronted Jessica about it and she said it would never happen again.
A deputy later reviewed jail phone calls between Mathew and Jessica and discovered a conversation where the couple discussed hiding the evidence. The document said the couple talked about the allegations against them.
Then, Jessica told Mathew to "get on her phone and go to the photos and delete them all," the document said. Mathew replied with "I already did."
Mathew also said: "I have already taken the iPod and the Mac Book and all of that off of the account [the iCloud account]." Jessica responded with "Okay good."
