A mother will spend at least six years in prison for her part in her infant daughter’s death.

Morgan Lyndsay Conn pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree child abuse inflicting serious injury and attempted felony child abuse.

Conn’s plea comes a month after her then-boyfriend, Steven Glenn Dean, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the death of Khloe Alice Dean.

Khloe was part of a set of triplets and one of the abuse charges relates to her brother the same age. The little boy has suffered developmental delays due to abuse, according to Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Lari.

Lari said in court that the children were in a toxic environment, not provided necessary medical treatment on top of reported abuse.

The have since been placed in loving homes, she said.

Initially charged with first-degree murder, Dean took the lesser charge of second-degree murder last month. His sentencing was postponed, but the plea arrangement said he would serve 10 to 22 years in prison and agree to testify against Conn.

Conn previously denied knowing about any abuse and said even if she did, she would not turn on the man she loves, Lari said in court last month.

Parents of nine children have possible murder charges looming after one of their babies died.

The two are currently charged with child abuse for critical injuries to 6-month-old Khloe Alice Dean.

The infant was hospitalized March 24 with two broken arms and bleeding on her brain. She died Friday.

According to search warrants, doctors not only found those injuries but saw signs of previous abuse. She had blood on her brain prior to a March 24 911 call when medical workers responded to the couple’s home.

During the 911 call, Steven Glenn Dean can be heard crying and asking for help. He talked to the dispatcher while a neighbor, who is a CNA, performed CPR on the child.

He told the operator that the girl wasn’t breathing, at one point saying she was starting to turn blue.

Khloe was taken to the local hospital then to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. She continued to hang on, but ultimately lost the fight.

When asked about the baby’s old injuries, Dean told investigators that the child fell off the bed or couch a week before the day he called 911, court documents say.

Dean told investigators the mother, Morgan Lyndsay Conn was at an appointment when the little girl “got limp on me in the bedroom,” search warrants say.

Khloe was one of a set of triplets, and she had a total of eight siblings, all of whom were taken by social services workers after the incident.
