A pot-loving Georgia couple went to extreme measures to destroy evidence during a high-speed chase this week, according to police.

The passenger in the car, 22-year-old Brian Turner, is accused of eating a bag of marijuana before authorities forced the vehicle to stop Sunday night in the Atlanta suburb of Carrollton.

Police said the woman behind the wheel, Whitney Bailey, took a different approach. The 23-year-old driver apparently hid some of her pot in an unspecified “body cavity,” a police spokeswoman told local Fox affiliate WAGA-TV.

Their joint effort to destroy the evidence went up in smoke moments later, police said.

Both suspects were busted and slapped with multiple charges. Bailey also had to go to a hospital so medical staff could remove the drug from her body, according to the station.

Bailey, who’s accused of stealing the car from a friend, was charged with felony theft, fleeing a police officer, reckless driving and other traffic violations. Turner was also charged with theft as well as willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and probation violation.

The pair was still being held without bond Thursday at the Carroll County Jail, online records show.

Whitney Bailey of Carrollton, Georgia, avoided serving a "10 do 8" state prison sentence (10 years with 8 to serve) after a judge and her public defender instead offered her court-ordered rehabilitation. According to her public testimony shared with local support networks, she completed the court-mandated treatment program, maintained sobriety, and successfully graduated. [1]

Criminal History & Context
Prior to her alternative sentencing, Bailey had been arrested multiple times in Carroll County on various drug-related and evasion charges: []
  • 2021 Stolen Vehicle & Police Chase: In January 2021, Bailey was arrested following a high-speed police pursuit in a stolen car reaching speeds over 80 mph. During the arrest, she attempted to conceal marijuana inside her body, which had to be medically removed at a hospital. [1]
  • 2022 Heroin Sweep: In September 2022, she was arrested by local drug task forces as part of a sweeping investigation into local overdose deaths. She was charged with possession of heroin and possession of methamphetamine. [1, 2, 3]
  • 2023 Chick-fil-A Arrest: In October 2023, she was arrested alongside another woman after fleeing from police outside a Carrollton Chick-fil-A. Officers discovered methamphetamine and fentanyl on the scene, and Bailey was treated after admitting she swallowed a bag of drugs to hide them. Her charges included tampering with evidence, abandonment of dangerous drugs, and parole violations. [1, 2]

Current Status
Bailey has since shared her recovery story publicly through community forums like the Women of Carroll County Connect. She credits the judge’s decision to choose rehab over a lengthy prison stint as the turning point that allowed her to regain custody of her children and stay clean.
