Sentenced: Medics Use 3 Doses Of Narcan To Revive 10MO Girl

Authorities arrested a Florida couple over the weekend after their infant daughter nearly died of what investigators suspect was an oxycodone overdose, according to multiple reports.

Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies on Saturday arrested Melissa Chelsea Katz and Kaeden Parker Walton, both 24, on suspicion of child abuse.

Authorities said in an arrest report obtained by WPEC that officials with Greenacres’ Fire Rescue Department found the couple’s 10-month-old daughter blue and unresponsive Friday while responding to a call about a reported overdose. Rescuers were able to revive the child using three doses of Narcan.

Katz told investigators she and her boyfriend, Walton, had smoked two “Oxys” the night before authorities were called and three on the day of the call, according to WPTV. Katz said she and Walton always smoked outside the apartment or in their bathroom, with the fan on, WPTV reported.

Katz told investigators she and Walton got into a fight on Friday and that during the argument their daughter was left alone on the bed for no more than five minutes, WPTV reported.

"It is evident that she would have had access to any one of the multiple prescribed narcotics, along with burnt tin foil, with residue, used for smoking narcotics, that was also on the bed where she was lying," authorities said in the arrest report. "The child was clearly endangered, allowing her to ingest a substance resulting in her becoming unresponsive."

Deputies turned the 10-month-old girl over to the Florida Department of Children and Families after the incident, according to the Post.

He's awaiting a plea deal while on the jail's med unit. Was still on probation for gun charges.

I agree Sugar Cookie. A lifetime full. The parents have other priorities that don't include her.

The Mother already has supervised visitation because she's been a good girl going to rehab classes and wrote her 500 word essay. The paternal great-grandmother has enabled ALL of this and continues to support the couple.

Kaeden's still in jail but that's because of the weapons charges he was still on probation for so he'll plea out next month and they'll be a family again, until they actually kill that child.

In the meantime Kaeden's on the med unit at the hospital so he can support his case against Uber. (Do you wear a seatbelt to prevent injury? Kaeden doesn't have to and he's suing everyone as a result.) Doesn't have to work because he sued for workman's comp early on so he's just waiting around in jail for release due to time served and will come out still with no medical insurance woes (medicaid), plenty of lawsuit money for more drugs and weapons, and he'll get that baby back because his great-grandmother will lie and say ANYTHING he requests.

Why doesn't the news ever follow up on these cases? Bonus: Why did the Palm Beach Post REMOVE a published story about his car accident followed by an attack on an elderly stranger?

I don't understand how you can smoke a pill. I tried looking it up & didn't find out how just that it's the quickest way to get high. Doesn't make sense to me, you'd think a pill would just melt. Don't want to do it, just can't wrap my head around it. lol

Crush the pill, heat it until the vapors start rising, and inhale those vapors. NB: there are also fillers and excipients in the tablet and they may not generate benign products when vaporized.

Sadder, look Melissa up there and see where she took a misdemeanor on her record for retracting her report that Kaeden assaulted her while she was pregnant (to keep him out of jail because he was still on probation? or did she go to all the trouble of reporting a crime but it was just an oopsie?)

Dumbass Melissa finally made her "Family First!" themed facebook page private. Took her 6 months but it's understandable since she was busy getting high and didn't have any responsibilities like motherhood.

I have the same access as you to public information on the mypalmbeachclerk.com there's nothing private about this. She failed another drug test in July (seven months and still can't get her shit together, maybe it's time to let that baby go to a family that can care for her?) does the new sentence fit the situation? (Would love to hear your thoughts on this!)

I'm sure she'll really learn her lesson and turn a new page! That writing an essay about why testing positive is a bad thing wasn't effective when she tested positive last time but the brilliant judge has sentenced her to ten whole hours of community service with a bicycle charity this time so I'm sure she'll be sober from now on and raise Harley (trashy name they gave that poor baby was on Facebook) as responsible mother soon! (Nope, I don't believe that she'll be available as a mother. She's proving it over and over.)

Meanwhile good ol dad Kaeden is still in jail and not even because he nearly killed his daughter and then was belligerent while they revived her. It's because of those pesky weapons charges he was still on probation for when he crushed those oxys and smoked them in the apartment with a baby on a bed full of drugs.

He got lucky when Melissa took a misdemeanor for "false reporting" after reporting in vivid detail how Kaeden beat her while pregnant rather than letting him go to jail as he should have for violation of probation. However, if he'd been in custody maybe the baby wouldn't have had to stop breathing for so long. Oh well, doesn't matter to that family it seems. "Family First!" as Melissa advertised!

Good news for him is that this jail time is just about the longest he's gone without a ticket or arrest in his whole adult life AND the lawsuit he's got going against some poor Uber driver and Uber has been kindly pushed back over and over while they await his majesty's release from custody (not that he has any medical bills from this, he was already worker's-comp-worthless before he got in the car and refused to wear a seatbelt so it's just money in pocket for him). He'll come out to a bank account full of 8 months of worker's comp money and a fresh pile of cash from his lawsuit.

This happened to a baby at the end of December. Baby turned a year old in March. Anyone else feel like writing the prosecutor or judge? Does no one care that this baby isn't placed in a loving home permanently rather than floundering her first years with deadbeat parents?

This is disgusting to watch roll along. Is anyone else following this horror?

Kaeden Walton pled guilty to neglect and weapons charges amounting in a 2 year sentence with all the days so far this year as time served. He's going to prison until almost the last day of next year. The sentencing chart shows he was due more than 3 years but no more than 10 so a plea of two years was his best option. Looks like they also removed the restraining order so he'll be able to have contact with...the child he abused errr neglected?

Melissa Katz is free in the world zoom meeting into "Drug Court" and gets chances to pass or fail every month at not taking opioids in the days before she's tested with the idea that someday she'll raise her own daughter. No felony for her. Just an oopsie I guess.

If not for the violation of probation on other big-time charges Kaeden would probably be dancing through "Drug Court" free and stoned too, 10 hours of community service here, an essay there. No big deal. Except he made the baby stop breathing while on probation.
