According to court documents, Danshell Evon, 38, was driving her 2015 Kia Optima southbound on Connecticut Avenue near Atherton Drive around 7:30 a.m. on May 12, 2022, when she hit a 1997 Ford F-150.

Both occupants of the Ford suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Evon’s two 13-year-old children also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, court documents show.

However, Evon’s 3-year-old daughter, Dreamie Dior Jackson died as a result of her injuries.
An event data recorder that was examined during the investigation revealed that Evon was driving at speeds above 98 mph in the seconds leading up to the crash, according to court documents.

The investigation also revealed that Dreamie was improperly secured in a backless booster seat which contributed to her fatal injuries.
