The man recorded on video attacking a Las Vegas judge in her courtroom Wednesday was sentenced to probation multiple times, once by the same judge, and also once bit a woman, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.
As the 8 News Now Investigators first reported, Deobra Redden, 30, a three-time felon, was in Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus’ courtroom for sentencing on a charge of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm.

Holthus was about to deny Redden’s probation request when Redden ran up to her, jumped over the bench and attacked her, video shared with the 8 News Now Investigators showed. Several other people then fought with Redden before throwing him to the ground.
Redden, who appeared in court with his mother, has three felony convictions and nine misdemeanor convictions on his record, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.

In 2012, Redden was convicted of assault causing bodily injury to a family member. A judge sentenced him to 45 days in jail and a time, documents said.

In 2013, Redden was convicted three times for domestic battery, documents said. He was ordered to attend anger management classes, spend two months in jail and pay a fine in the three cases.
In 2014, Redden was convicted for attempted theft, documents said. A judge sentenced him to probation, which he violated several times. Redden then entered a mental health court program.

While on probation, Redden was twice convicted of domestic battery, tampered with his alcohol monitoring bracelet and violated other terms, documents said.

He was also charged with kicking a police officer in the knee.
Also, during his probation in 2018, Redden was convicted of battery with substantial bodily harm. In that case, he bit a woman and broke the windows of a man’s car with a rock, documents said. Again, a judge sentenced Redden to probation. A judge honorably discharged him from probation in 2020 and 2021.

During Wednesday’s court appearance, Redden’s attorney asked Holthus to sentence his client to probation. The prosecutors asked Holthus to sentence Redden to 19-48 months in prison.

“Basically, I would like to tell the courts and everyone here, based on my criminal history, I feel that like I shouldn’t be sent to prison for a sentence time,” Redden told Holthus before the attack.
“Have you looked at your criminal history?” she asked him.

“I looked at it – I just looked at it,” Redden said.

“You lived it, I suppose,” Holthus said. “Three felonies, a [gross misdemeanor], nine misdemeanors, multiple [domestic violence convictions], you got a lot going on, sir.”
“I’m in a better place in my mind, in my mental health, I have a support system, I just got hired a Teamster for the union, making $20 an hour.,” Redden said. “The reason behind every single domestic violence, I’ve been dealing with mental health, and I didn’t know that I was dealing with mental health and they put me in mental health court and I still didn’t know that I had mental health problem.”
Redden was booked into the Clark County jail on new charges of battery and battery on a protected person. One count of the battery-on-a-protected-person charge indicated the victim was “substantially harmed.” He was due in court on the new charges at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Did he play for the NFL? Apparently they don't make those 'benches' high enough.

Can't imagine he'll get any kind of a break on his next trial.

Clearly, he's in a better place lol. The idiot bitch begging them to "giiit ow-ffa heeem!" is music to my ears. Probably the idiot mom, who raised a monster with zero self control. What did this moron think would happen? The judge would be all, "OMG, he kicked my ass. I've so been put in my place, probation it is!?"

I think every judge that gives an animal like this probation should get the shit beat out of them
Most judges try to be kind and give as many chances as possible, but they have to up the anty if the person keeps coming back. This is clearly a violent person who needs meds/therapy and isn't getting them. On the plus side, he will in jail.

His attorney briefly mentioned IED. That's Intermittent Explosive Disorder, and you just saw an episode firsthand. Superhuman strength and speed, and indifference to pain are classic features. My husband had it. Risperdal, an anti psychotic, can control it, but if you miss it by 20 minutes, they start to wind up again.

IED, is an appropriate acronym for him, otherwise known as Improvised Explosive Device. This sorta person needs to be locked up forever going by what @McDanel said up there, if they miss their dose by just a few minutes they start to ramp up to explosion. I'm sure they start to feel just like all the other mental ill people who stop taking their meds because they feel just fine. He's a guided missile in human form.

Wonder how the victims of his domestic violence assaults feel about him? Did each victim know about his prior assaults?? He’s dealing with mental health, I’d say, after the assault on the Honorable Judge that he still is dealing with it and has not made enough progress to remain in free society! As demonstrated by his actions to the Judge, who knows what he would do if he’s not in the Court of Law!!

The Las Vegas felon who hurled himself over a courtroom dais and attacked a female judge earlier this week said he was trying to kill her and blamed his action on a “bad day” while refusing to appear in court to face the new felony charges he was handed.
Debora Redden, a 30-year-old, three-time felon, was being sentenced Wednesday by Clark County District Judge Mary Kay Holthus for a conviction for attempted battery with substantial bodily harm.

Redden blamed his outburst on having a bad day and said he was trying to kill Holthus, according to court documents viewed by KLAS.

“Judge has it out for me,” Redden told officers after he was detained. “Judge is evil.”
He also apologized to the officers for his outburst.

“I’m sorry you guys had to see that,” Redden said before he reportedly asked another officer if what he did was wrong.
While he was still inside the courthouse, Redden allegedly spat in a corrections officer’s face.

During the fracas, Holthus’ head was slammed against the wall, and she later told police that Redden was “big, strong, and angry.”
Redden failed to arrive for his initial court appearance for the new charges Thursday and is scheduled to be in court on Jan. 9 in front of Judge Diana Sullivan.

His time in front of Holthus isn’t over as the two are scheduled to meet again on Jan. 8 for the initial sentencing hearing, according to the outlet.
In 2021, Redden served time in prison for a domestic battery charge after being sentenced to 12 to 30 months, but a board granted him parole in 2022.

He knew exactly what he was doing. He is hoping to be sentenced to a mental hospital where he will be able to become cured and released much earlier than if he is sentenced to prison.

The convicted felon who lunged over the bench “superman” style at a Las Vegas judge last week appeared in court again Tuesday to face an attempted murder charge over the shocking attack.

Deobra Redden was surrounded by guards with a mask covering his mouth and orange mitts over his hands as he appeared in front of a different judge to face charges over last Wednesday’s courtroom chaos.
Redden, 30, was charged with attempted murder charge against an older person, battery, intimidating a public officer with threat of force, extortion, and disregarding the safety of a person resulting in substantial bodily harm, KVVU reported.
“It’s a chemical imbalance,” his sister LaDonna Daniels said. “I don’t think sending him to prison will help.”

But everyone else will be safe if he is locked in a cage.

There are many people who have a chemical imbalance, bipolar and schizophrenia but they dont assault ,threaten and hurt others when they don’t get their own way! If he isn’t capable of keeping his hands to himself he belongs in a prison where he won’t have access to the unsuspecting public!

I know there are people who legitimately have mental health issues. But it is so over used that it's become a joke most of the time. People who abuse their children, it's because they are bi-polar. People who murder, schizophrenic, shoplifters, low self esteem. It's ridiculous, in my opinion, therapy is not the answer to all their problems, in fact, I believe it's being used as an excuse to get away with their crimes.

A man who was captured on video attacking a judge in a Las Vegas courtroom after vaulting over her bench and desk has been sentenced to decades in prison.
Deobra Redden was ordered on Tuesday to serve between 26 and 65 years in a Nevada prison for the attack on Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus, KLAS-TV in Las Vegas reported.

Redden, 31, pleaded guilty but mentally ill in September to attempted murder and other charges, ending his trial shortly after Holthus had testified that she feared for her life when Redden vaulted over her 4-foot-high bench and landed on her.
Redden said in court Tuesday that he did not intend to kill Holthus, KLAS-TV reported.

“I’m not making excuses for my actions, but I’m saying I’m not a bad person and I know that I did not intend to kill Mary Kay Holthus,” he said.

Redden will be eligible for parole sometime after 2050, KLAS-TV reported.

That picture with the fingerless mitts on his hands, and the COVID mask. Man, that's a depressing and powerless state to be in.

Over this judge assault, his prison sentence is so lengthy that it could possibly reach its own retirement age. Crazy to think about, isn't it?

And since Youtube is extremely thorny about the dissemination of the videos on its platform and Rumble isn't to nearly the same extent, here is a video from Rumble which parlays the real footage of the assault, if anyone is interested. Man, I hate youtube.
