A man has been arrested in connection to the death of a baby that happened in Richmond on Wednesday morning.

Police were called around 7:55 a.m. for an unresponsive infant.

The baby boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police arrested and charged Terrell Glover with malicious wounding. Officers said additional charges are pending.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of death.

People in a Richmond neighborhood say they are shaken after learning a four-month-old boy was killed.

Neighbors said they knew it was bad when ambulance crews rushed the infant out of the Florida Avenue home Wednesday morning.

But hearing Terrell Glover, a man they said often waved and spoke to them, was arrested for malicious wounding of the child had them close to speechless.

"It's nothing we really can do, because you don't try to be in people’s personal business or their personal space,” one woman said. “Like in this neighborhood, we all know each other. All of us. Whether we know each other by name, we know each other by face. So to hear what happened, it’s heartbreaking."

The infant had blunt force trauma and marks on his neck consistent to bite wounds, according to Crime Insider sources.

Those same sources add that the little boy did not live at the house. His mother and Glover would often hang out, but Glover was not the child's father

Glover pleaded guilty to the malicious wounding of a woman in august of 2018

Judge Reilly Marchant signed off on the plea of 5 years with 4 years and 5 months suspended as long as Glover remained on good behavior.

"Certainly people will be critical of the prior sentence just looking at it on its face,” CBS 6 legal expert Todd Stone said. “But every case really is driven by the evidence. For example, this case also might not warrant as much time as people might think if a prosecutor is concerned about whether it can be proven or not."

Experts said evidence collected will dictate future charges and upgrades

Glover is being held without bond at the Richmond Justice Center.

Bite marks and prior malicious wounding? I wonder if he was mentally ill. Vampire obsession maybe? I wonder what the mom knew.

We don’t need old school insane asylums, but mental health homes for people who can’t function safely in society would make society and the mentally ill safer.

Who knows... maybe he’s just evil and wanted to hurt the baby.
