A Lubbock man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Elyas Anthony Rocha, 22 was accused of having at least one image of child pornography involving a child under the age of 12.

In June of 2019, Homeland Security Investigations in Lubbock was informed of an email address and IP address linked to Rocha by administrators with the Kik instant messaging app. Rocha’s account was reported to authorities as “actively trading child pornography with other users.”

Court documents say Rocha’s devices were turned over to forensic analysts with Homeland Security Investigations who “immediately located and identified child pornography.”

Rocha was taken into custody, where Lubbock Police reports Rocha admitted to victimizing his younger cousin when they were 1-2 years old.

Will he be rehabilitated enough in 20 years to return to society in twenty years?

It is disgusting how many news stories I see a day of grown ass men sexually abusing and exploiting children.

Maybe politicians need to see that child exploitation is as bad as the virus, racism and any other agenda they use to virtue signal.

Strange title. Reads like they were BOTH 1-2 at the time. Obviously not the case here. Either way, too short a sentence.

I think they were trying not to be gender specific since the article didn't indicate whether the victim is male or female, so they used "they" instead of "he" or "she" without realizing it would make things confusing for the reader.

I agree. If I were the reporter I would’ve avoided this by phrasing it as “Rocha was taken into custody, where Lubbock Police reports he admitted to victimizing his younger cousin when the child was 1-2 years old.”
