A Chicago woman has been charged with murder for allegedly killing a landlord that was trying to evict her, then hiding the dismembered remains in a freezer, police say.

Sandra Kolalou, 36, was charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a homicide, the Chicago Police Department announced Wednesday.

Killed in the slaying was 69-year-old landlord Frances Walker, who owned a boarding home and was renting rooms to several tenants, authorities said.

“The person who owns the residence has actually served the defendant with a notice to leave, or an eviction notice,” Brendan Deenihan, chief of detectives with Chicago police, told reporters.
Police were called to the victim’s home by concerned tenants in the early evening Monday because she had not been seen in about a day, Deenihan said. Tenants told investigators they heard screaming about 2:30 in the morning.

Many of the tenants also mentioned to police they were afraid of Kolalou, according to Deenihan.

When officers arrived on scene, the defendant was there and declined to speak to police.

Sandra Kolalou, 37, was convicted of first-degree murder, dismembering a body, concealing a homicidal death, and aggravated identity theft in the killing of Frances Walker.
Kolalou denied killing Walker, who she testified was a friend, saying, “I would do anything for Fran,” the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Her lawyers reportedly plan to appeal.
Kolalou is set to be sentenced on June 20.

A Chicago woman convicted of killing and dismembering her landlord and storing some of her remains in a freezer has been sentenced to 58 years in prison.

Sandra Kolalou was sentenced in the killing of 69-year-old Frances Walker, WGN-TV reported.
A Cook County jury convicted Kolalou in April of multiple charges, including first-degree murder and concealing a homicidal death. Prosecutors said Kolalou killed Walker in October 2022 after Walker served her with an eviction notice.

Kolalou was arrested after she pulled a knife on a tow truck driver who drove her to a beach on Chicago's lakefront. According to prosecutors, Kolalou dumped a heavy bag into a garbage can there and pulled the knife on the driver when he refused to take her to another location.

She was charged after Walker’s severed head, arms and legs were found inside a freezer at the home on the Northwest Side of Chicago.
