A Sedgwick County Judge has sentenced a man to 281 years in prison for raping five girls from 2010 to 2022.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office told KSN that David Mendoza was sentenced to five life sentences for his crimes.
Those five life sentences are “Hard 25” sentences, meaning he is required to serve the full 25 years before being eligible for parole. If he was granted parole for one, the next life sentence would kick in.
In addition to those life sentences, Mendoza was sentenced to 372 months he will be required to serve after.
Altogether, Mendoza was sentenced to 281 years in prison.
A jury found Mendoza guilty of 25 total crimes:
- Six counts of rape
- 13 counts of aggravated indecent liberties
- Four counts of aggravated criminal sodomy
- One count of criminal sodomy
- One count of kidnapping
Investigators said the victims were all girls he knew and were under the age of 14 when the assaults started. Some of the cases date back to 2010. The last case was in May 2022.
