A Burger King manager from Miami is accused of kidnapping a 10-year-old girl, forcing her to make pornographic videos and to have sex with him.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office arrested 23-year-old Jonathan Diaz Fundora on Tuesday.

Investigators say he met the girl six weeks ago through an online app and chatted with her on Facebook and through text messages. Detectives said he made the girl perform sex acts and send him photos and videos.

The sheriff's office said he then took three days off from work and arranged to pick up the girl near her home this week. She left a note with a parent saying she planned to stay at a friend's house for the next three days. The parent found the note and called 911 immediately after realizing the girl was gone.

Fundora, according to the sheriff's office, used the Facebook profile "El Yoni King Diaz (Chojo Akimichi)." They used images of his car on his Facebook page to track him down at a Motel 6 in Lakeland within 35 minutes of the 911 call. The girl was found hiding in a bathroom, wearing a dog collar.

"This suspect groomed and manipulated a little girl online and then traveled all the way to Polk County to sexually abuse her – he is the poster child for why it is critical that parents monitor their children’s activities online," said Sheriff Grady Judd. "I commend our patrol deputies for catching him in the act of sexually abusing a child, and I shudder to think of what the other horrible consequences would have been had her parent not immediately reported her missing."

Fundora is facing charges of kidnapping, sexual battery by a suspect over 18 on a victim under 12, traveling to meet a minor, 5 counts of possession of child pornography, 3 counts of directing the sexual performance of a child, and 2 counts of use of a computer to seduce a child.

Investigators examined her electronic devices and discovered disturbing exchanges she’d allegedly had with Fundora, Judd said. They located the license plate number of Fundora’s car in a picture he posted online and officers were dispatched to every hotel in the immediate area.

Officers located Fundora’s vehicle at the Motel 6 and found him in his room with the victim “hiding” and partially dressed in the bathroom ...

... Fundora asked detectives if they could give him a ride back to his vehicle after he left jail, presumably once the criminal investigation was quickly resolved.

“It’s like, Dude — you’re never going to need a car again,” Judd said. “You’re going to go to state prison for the rest of your life. … He has no idea the gravity of this situation.”

Judge Durden sentenced him to mandatory life in prison on Jan. 30.
Diaz Fundora met the victim online and communicated with her for about a month, sending sexually explicit content to the girl. He then made a plan to drive from his home of Miami to Lakeland, where he told the child they would spend a few days at a motel.

He told the victim to write a letter to her grandmother, telling her she would be at a motel with a friend, and pack a bag. Diaz Fundora arranged to pick her up down the road from her house.

On March 27, 2018, Diaz Fundora drove 4 ½ hours to pick the girl up and take her to a Motel 6, where he sexually battered her.

The victim was reported missing by her grandmother, and Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies traced the girl’s cellphone to the motel. When deputies arrived, Diaz Fundora answered the door in his underwear and said he had a young girl with him.

Deputies found the child hiding in the bathroom with the lights off.

Nearly four months after Diaz Fundora kidnapped the girl and molested her, she took her own life.

At Diaz Fundora’s sentencing hearing, a letter from the girl’s grandmother was read aloud in court during the hearing.

She told the judge that the girl was bullied in school and on the internet and often questioned if anyone loved her.

“He preyed on the innocence and immaturity of a child,” the letter said. “(Diaz Fundora) violated our precious baby and changed her short life forever.”

She said the damage Diaz Fundora did ran deeper than anyone could have imagined, causing the girl to take her life in July of 2018.

“Her small, young heart could not handle this world anymore,” the grandmother wrote.

Maybe we should have special communities for the stupid, where they can live out their stupid little lives behind a restricted internet that doesn't allow contact with, you know, 10-year-old girls.
