A shocking video shows the moment a man threw his pit bull off a cliff in Los Angeles.
In the video, Andres Spancky Raya is seen getting out of his car holding the terrified dog in his arms. He then looks around and prepares to throw the pup off the cliff.
Moments later, the helpless dog is seen flying through the air and plunging 15 to 20 feet before a bush broke her fall.
Miraculously, she was uninjured and later rescued by Krisanto Paragos, who was recently honored by Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey at the Courageous Citizen Awards Ceremony.
According to
NBC Los Angeles, Paragos refused to give the dog back to her cruel owner, Andres Spancky Raya, after the 2016 incident.
Paragos then called police and gave authorities home surveillance video that showed what had occurred, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Raya, 22, pleaded no contest last August to a felony animal cruelty charge and an unrelated residential burglary.
The pit bull, now named Hera, was reportedly thrown off the hill twice in 2016, prosecutors said.
Raya was sentenced last September to two years in state prison on the animal cruelty charge, which he will serve at the same time as his five-year sentence on the burglary case.
Hera has since been adopted into a new family, who happen to live next door to Paragos.
'She's not too far away from me. I still get to see and she still barks at me,' Paragos told NBC.
