When 32-year-old Timothy Hernandez's parents arrived at their Mount Vernon home after church Sunday afternoon, they found his girlfriend on the ground, with her head removed from her body and placed on the back of her torso, according to Mount Vernon police reports.

Hernandez is now charged with first-degree murder, accused of plotting his 27-year-old girlfriend's death that morning. He would later tell police that he "had spoken with God," who told him to "strike down" his girlfriend. Their 3-year-old daughter also told investigators she witnessed the slaying.

After the parents called 911, cops arrived to find Vanessa Cons' body on the floor of the bedroom she shared with Hernandez, at the parents' house.

The parents told officers that they had left for church between 9:30 and 10 a.m. that morning without seeing Hernandez or Cons. They found her body when they returned home about 12:45 p.m. The parents claimed the couple argued before going to bed the previous night.

Investigators found a butcher knife in the kitchen sink with a clean blade, but blood and human hair on the handle. They also spotted multiple stab wounds to Cons' back and the back of her head. They believe Hernandez sawed her head off from her body and placed it on the back of her torso, according to the incident report.

Police also found bloody clothing in a laundry basket and a chemical examination found bloody footprints around Cons' body that led to the kitchen sink, documents indicate.

Cops found Hernandez at the Cascade Mall in Burlington with the 3 1/2-year-old daughter he shared with Cons. After officers took him to the Mount Vernon Police Department for questioning, he claimed that God "told him to strike down his girlfriend ... because she did not repent," reports say.

He quoted two Bible verses that addressed women who did not follow God's word and were "struck down," Mount Vernon police wrote. He allegedly said he "gave Vanessa a chance to repent, but she did not," court documents indicate. He also reportedly claimed that "God works in mysterious ways and that he has to believe and not question God's will."

Hernandez then took their daughter to the mall. He contended that he was "not crazy" and claimed that "a crazy person would not tell the truth."

Investigators also spoke with the toddler. She claimed "she saw Daddy cut Mommy with scissors," according to the police report. She heard her mother scream prior to her death and then her father told her "she needed to go say goodbye to Mommy." She reportedly said she "did not know why Mommy had her eyes closed and blood on her face."

He does. It just doesn't make the news when they follow the instructions, - or at least not the front pages. Suicides are generally on page 4 or 5, unless they cause major inconvenience to traffic. :shy:

Vanessa Cons, 27, and Timothy Hernandez, 32, lived together with their 3-year-old daughter at the home of Hernandez’s parents.

On Sunday Hernandez’s parents left to go to church. When they returned a few hours later they were greeted by a horrific site.

Cons was lying dead on the floor with her decapitated head positioned on her back like some kind of macabre art exhibit.

The couple called police to report what they had found while also letting them know their son and his daughter were not at the home.

When police arrived they found that, aside from having her head sawed off, Cons had also suffered multiple stab wounds to her back, neck and to the back of her head.

A butcher knife was found in the sink with a clean blade but with blood and hair on the handle.

Police would locate Hernandez with his daughter at the nearby Cascade Mall, where Hernandez would readily admit that he was responsible for killing Cons.

He told police that God had spoken to him and informed him that he needed to strike Cons down. He quoted a couple of Bible verses relating to God instructing his followers to kill someone if they did not repent and follow the Wurd of Gawd.

According to court documents, Hernandez said he “gave Vanessa a chance to repent, but she did not.”

So, with no other option, he stabbed her, decapitated her, placed her severed head on her back, then went shopping with his daughter. Good ol’ Christian fun… although a bit too Old Testamenty for my tastes.

“God works in mysterious ways and that he has to believe and not question God’s will,” he reportedly told police.

When police talked to Hernandez’s daughter, she told them that she saw her dad cut her mom with scissors. She added that her dad made her say goodbye to her mother and that she did not understand why her eyes were closed and why she had blood on her face.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with premeditated murder and is currently being held on $1 million bail.

A man accused of beheading his girlfriend has been found competent to stand trial.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports that Judge Brian Stiles found 33-year-old Timothy Paul Hernandez competent following a court-ordered evaluation by a mental-health expert.

Hernandez is charged with premeditated murder in the death of 27-year-old Vanessa Cons. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Cons was found dead in the couple’s Mount Vernon home in August 2018.

According to court documents, Hernandez told authorities that he killed Cons after speaking with God.

Public defender C. Wesley Richards had asked that Hernandez be evaluated by another psychologist, but his client declined.

I find it difficult to believe this psycho is competent after what he did. Definitely needs to be locked up and away from society. And what he subjected that poor little girl to is evil. I say paranoid schizophrenic. I recently read (dunno where) that religious fanaticism is prevalent with schizos.

Yeah, I knew a family where Mom & Dad had been married for 30 years. When Mom left on a trip, Dad decided he was better, stopped taking his meds and killed her when she returned. The son and daughter in law were left to clean up the crime scene. :(

Authorities say the couple and their two children were living in Mount Vernon when Hernandez stabbed Cons multiple times before cutting off her head.

Prosecutors said they believe the younger child was in the room at the time of the killing and the older child found the body.

A court order forbids Hernandez from communication with the children until they turn 18.

The Cons family was awarded custody of the children this week.
