Katarina Jovanovic, 28, has been jailed for seven and a half years after dropping her newborn daughter out of a window because 'she was worried a baby would ruin her career'.
Judges heard how she had given birth at home in secret 10 months ago on September 12 and then dropped her baby daughter from her apartment window almost 12 feet onto the tarmac below.
A person found the minutes-old infant's body with a shattered skull underneath Jovanovic's balcony and called the police.
Jovanovic admitted to the crime at the beginning of the trial in April but could not explain the moment to the court, ASB Zeitung reported.

She also claimed she had not realised she was pregnant. But the prosecution accused her of murder and of deliberately concealing her pregnancy from colleagues and neighbours.
Prosecutors told the court that Jovanovic thought being a mother would spoil her career as an executive in Porsche's legal department.

Public prosecutor Mareike Hafendoerfer said: 'The accused was not prepared to put her life plans, especially her professional advancement, on hold for a child.

'That was her decision when the baby was born, and as a result, the criteria for a murder conviction are fulfilled.'
Jovanovic's lawyers claimed that it was at most manslaughter as she had accidentally dropped the baby from her hands after giving birth alone at home without realising she had been pregnant.
'When she suddenly held the bloody baby in her hands, she was in an exceptional psychological situation.

'It was an accident, she dropped the baby. How the child ended up over the windowsill remains to be determined.'

In the end, the court accepted the lesser charge of manslaughter but jailed her for seven and a half years, which was more than the three years the defence had demanded.

Her legal team said they plan to appeal the verdict.

Some people do not realize that it is very possible to have both an established career and be a parent, and that those life paths are not mutually exclusive. If you have to accommodate one path, it does not mean you'll automatically be worse at the other. It can happen even in single-parent households. Both can be prioritized.

I'm really not sure how much this woman cared about her career, so much as she was apathetic/hateful toward her child. Evil thing to do to a child.

Who was hard up enough to sleep with that and get it pregnant???
Better don't ask any gay that question lol.

I think people are just programmed to think that it is impossible, mainly by entities spreading the "overpopulation lie".
Yes, it is a lie.
Almost every western , "1st/ 2nd+ world" country has less than 1,5 children born per woman.

When you actually look at the colors (half of them blue, half orange) , you see that shades of blue (basically every "rich/half rich" country) is 0.8-1.9, but orange are 2.3-6.9, so the spread is 1.1 vs 4.6.

In western world, the governments are doing anything and everything to help families.

In Poland, the old, conservative majority in parliament was criticized really hard for introducing 150 per month per child benefits regardless of income, but the new, progressive majority, increased it to 250 the almost instantly after they won lol.

I was going to create a conspiracy thread in which this subject could be addressed.

I think the USA is/was getting the better majority of the migrants - why i say this is that until recently most of the people coming from Central America were hardworking and would stay to themselves. They are used to corrupt governments and can handle the lesser evil here.

Now that the cartels and ex-prisoners are coming the story is changing.

The current crop of "new comers" who practice a certain religion that is both inhumane and barbaric what to shove that down everyone's throats.

I really don;t understand why Europe thought they were going to integrate this population - again in the beginnings those coming were probably more open minded and willing to assimilate - now not so much.

Yes here our spicy :new comers" create a lot of children but that does not mean they will all be productive citizens and when they are the majority will they vote in the same party that is taxing American's to death to keep the new tax payer slave line afloat?

Well that screws up her career options of neonatal nursing, preschool teaching, or daycare provider.
Her argument would be she deserves a second chance and can prove that if ever pregnant again.

I had to do some reading but both abortion and adoption are options in Germany. They also have a form of "safe haven" drop offs for moms who simply want to leave the baby in a safe spot so they can be adopted. Her entire method makes no sense. Did she honestly think no one would seek her out with a newborn infant chucked out her window?
