I don't think i'm going to assume anything after the Victoria Martens case.

I don't want to assume the worst of people but, they lived in a trailer, were probably on drugs ... who knows what the fuck happened ?

Maybe she owed ... maybe the Mom killed him and made up a story.

The human sacrifice is too scary to think about ... so I don't want too.

The Felicia lady doesn't look that voo-doo to me.

Just in case someone needs to know, yur animal sacrifices and chicken swinging is deemed constitutional, so don't let anyone tell you any different.

Quote from @elmgems link.

K, but ... we're talking about a baby. He is not a chicken or a goat.

People that pray or give thanks when they eat ... i'm okay with that.

Depending on who I'm eating with ... signs of the cross (in unison) before you pick up your fork.

In separate but simultaneous news release, the Natchitoches Police Department and State Fire Marshal's Office announced the arrest of Hanna Barker, 22, of Natchitoches on one count of principal to first-degree murder in the death of her 6-month-old son, Levi Cole Ellerbe.

“When you’re charged with a principal to a crime that means you had a part in the crime. You may or may not have physically been there when the crime occurred. But you played a part in the execution of that crime,” said state Fire Marshal Butch Browning said in a telephone interview with KTBS Wednesday afternoon.
Browning left open the door to other arrests as he explained the intense focus of the investigation involving his investigators and those of the Natchitoches Police Department.

“At this time that’s possible. And that’s exactly what we’re going through right now. There’s still people that need to be interviewed and evidence that’s being analyzed. So that is still possible," said Browning.

Browning said extra manpower and equipment were reassigned from Baton Rouge to aid in the investigation.

“The law requires the fire marshal in addition to investigating the crime of arson, we investigate every (fire) death that occurs in the state of Louisiana, as well as we investigation any burns with over 5 percent of someone’s body so this is within our criminal enforcement authority to do," Browning said.

"The Natchitoches Police Department and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office have worked tirelessly together in order to learn the facts behind this homicide. The two agencies have worked as one since this investigation’s conception through extremely long days and nights with little to no sleep," states the Police Department's news release.

Barker was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center awaiting a 72-hour hearing.

Earlier this week, Natchitoches resident Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith was arrested for first-degree murder in the case. An additional charge is expected to be brought against Smith.

"Due to the extremely rapidly growing nature of this investigation, we must continue to restrict the information that is released. Therefore, no further information will be released at this time," the NPD release states.

Really Hannah? How deep into the white trash sub-culture are you? You're 22, lives a Louisianan trailer park called "Mayberry" and all ready squirted out 4 kids, the majority with asinine names. Brookelaine (never heard of it, nor did a quick Google search bring it up), Nevaeh (that's fucking heaven spelled backwards, so does it mean heaven or the opposite, like "hell"?), poor Levi (you're a big fan of the Sarah Palin clan, I guess) and then the lucky one to have a normal name and not be murdered, Elizabeth.

Btw, is it normal in Louisianan for the Fire Marshal to be in charge of mugshots?

Possible theories:
- she set up a fake kidnapping for money or attention from the dad, but it went bad
- drug deal went bad and the baby paid the price
- the voodoo involvement theory

Any other ideas?

I was imagining the first two. Claiming she ran away in panic leaving the baby behind = Hinky Meter!
Needs money to pay drug debts, can get attention and money from dad. Arranges with debtor to kidnap baby, it all goes bad.
Truth will probably be worse.

I can't wait to hear how this insanity went down. She has been charged with being Principle to murder, which pretty much means that she instigated the murder, as opposed to being an accomplice or conspirator. What ever plan was in action must have made sense in her drug-addled mind, somehow. Whatever it was, I'm going to assume the motive was money (for drugs).

Looks like it might be criminal gang retaliation.

What makes you think that? Is a media blackout SOP for retaliation gang stuff?

.
recently had someone come to see me about a family member who had been charged as a “principal” to first degree murder. He did not understand why his relative had been charged since the person had not actually participated in the murder. Under Louisiana statutory law, if a person directly or indirectly assists in the killing of another individual, they can be charged as a “principal” to the crime. Essentially, a principal is someone who aids and abets in the commission of a crime, or what might commonly be called an accomplice.

An example of “assisting” a murderwould be the following situation: A fight breaks out in a bar and one man goes out to the car and gets a gun. He gives the gun to his friend and points out the guy who started the fight. The friend shoots the guy and kills him. The man who pulled the trigger would be charged with first or second degree murder, and the friend would be charged as a principal to murder because he gave the man the weapon and pointed out the victim.

Another example of a principal would be a woman who drives her boyfriend to the store to get gasoline, knowing that he intends to burn down his ex-wife’s house. If the ex- dies in the fire, the boyfriend will be charged with 1st or 2nd degree murder and the girlfriend would be charged as a principal to the primary charge.

What is important to know about this type of murder charge is that even though the person did not actually commit the crime, they may eventually receive the same sentence as the person who did commit the crime. Louisiana has a very strict interpretation of principal for certain crimes, including homicide and armed robbery. This is why a person charged as a principal will need to aggressively defend themselves against the charge.

Holy Jesus that one haunted me for awhile. Like I would just start crying out of nowhere because it would cross my mind. It seemed like every few weeks there would be new info that would push it to a new level of ...horrible. I wanted to understand how...why. There is no... ... ... that poor poor child.

Here's some of my creative fiction, but perhaps not: I think Hannah and Felicia conspired this "attack" and murder together to hide physical evidence that Levi was abused, because mom didn't want to go to jail on abuse charges. Levi's dad might have been involved enough to see his own son, and would have called the cops when the injuries were discovered. Or she hurt him to the point where he needed a doctor and she didn't want to get caught, so murder.

On news sites, Hannah claimed that two MEN attacked her with mace, which the police have quickly determined to be an outright lie. So she's covering up the truth. Why would she lie if someone abducted and killed her child? Also, little Levi was burned and that's a good way (in their idiot minds) to hide signs of physical abuse.

I'm curious about the full autopsy results.

Plausible, @Kittyskyfish. Another scenario I thought of is if they were cooking meth and there was an accident where the baby was burned. Then burning him to death to finish the job might have seemed like a good option to cover up.

In all those photos on Facebook and the funeral home tribute video, Levi looks clean, well cared for, healthy and loved. Burning an infant alive is super extreme, so the meth cooking explanation seemed like it could almost explain why a mother who appeared to love her baby could do something so insanely heartless as burning him to death.

Yes ... there were lots of twists and turns in that one ... still is. I can't wait until everyone goes to trial in that case.

I kind of hope Jessica Kelly gets the death penalty.

Seems very likely this mom conspired with the black woman to have her child killed off. Story is just too preposterous from the outset.

Media blackout makes me think the authorities likely know exactly what's going down and simply dont want to deal with media during what is a very sensational crime as they square away their investigation.
