El Paso police arrested a father of six, Moises Martinez, 33, after he was accused of physically abusing two of his children.
On Sept. 12, patrol officers responded to Providence Memorial Hospital, where staff reported a baby was in critical care due to suspected abuse.
Authorities said an investigation revealed the 2-month-old had suffered serious head and brain injuries and had fractured ribs.
During the investigation, detectives saw that one of the baby’s siblings had bruising to her right eye.
Detectives said the investigation led them to believe the children’s injuries were caused by their father.
Jail records describe Martinez as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, bald, with brown eyes. Among his aliases is “Sinner,” jail records show.
