30-year-old Iesha Harris has been arrested and charged for the death of a friend's three year-old child.

The accused is believed to have "fatally assaulted" the child while babysitting.

An autopsy found the child died from blunt force trauma.

The mother said Harris offered to watch her daughter and that prior to this incident she she trusted Harris “wholeheartedly.”

Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Douglas said “Ms. Harris allegedly admitted to police she poured scalding water on top of the 3-year-old and slammed her head against the side of the bathtub.”

She reportedly became enraged when she found the toddler had thrown up on herself.

Iesha Harris, 30, is charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse in connection with the death of 3-year-old Harmoni Henderson. It's alleged Harris fatally assaulted the child while babysitting her
Judge Kenneth King of 36th District Court bound the case over to the 3rd Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan for possible trial following a recent preliminary exam. Prior to the preliminary exam, Harris underwent a competency evaluation and was found to be competent to stand trial.

A 31-year-old woman in Michigan may spend the rest of her life behind bars after admitting to killing her friend’s 3-year-old daughter, viciously beating the child to death while babysitting last year after the victim threw up on herself.
Appearing in Wayne County’s 3rd Judicial Circuit Court on Monday, Iesha Harris formally pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder in the 2024 slaying of young Harmoni Henderson, The Oakland Press reported.
Capt. Laurie Carter, the head of the Detroit Police Special Victims Unit, provided some additional details about the investigation into Harmoni’s death in an interview with Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV.

Carter was one of the officers who responded to the hospital where Harmoni’s mother and Harris had taken the victim.
“When I arrived at the hospital, the child had already been conveyed by the mother and also the friend,” Carter told the station shortly after the tragic incident. “The child was deceased when I arrived.”

Carter added that the details of Harmoni’s death left her “very disturbed.”

“Nothing like this should ever happen to a child,” she said.
Harmoni’s mother told WDIV that Harris “slammed” the toddler’s head into a bathtub, ultimately killing her.

“She was having a hard time. My baby is autistic, nonverbal,” the mother told the station. “I think she got frustrated with her, plus her own daughter, and she slammed my baby’s head against the tub.”

Harmoni’s mother said that prior to the violent outburst, she trusted Harris “wholeheartedly.”
Authorities reportedly told WDIV that Harris was watching Harmoni for the night and at some point locked the toddler in a room with her own 1-year-old child for about three hours while she smoked marijuana. When she returned to the room, she allegedly found that Harmoni had thrown up on herself and became irate.

“Ms. Harris allegedly admitted to police she poured scalding water on top of the 3-year-old and slammed her head against the side of the bathtub,” Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Douglas told WDIV.
The scalding water was allegedly poured on Harmoni’s head and face, Detroit Fox affiliate WJBK reported. The station also reported that when Harmoni’s mother called Harris to check in on her daughter, Harris told her that the child had fallen down the stairs and bumped her head, but was otherwise fine. The following morning, Harmoni’s mother reportedly came to pick her up and found the child in bed unresponsive.
“She was already dead from the moment that I got there,” the mother told WJBK. “She was gone.”

Family members spoke through tears Thursday afternoon during an emotional day in court after a 31-year-old woman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a little girl.
Iesha Harris was sentenced to 28–50 years in prison for killing Harmoni Henderson in 2024.
Harmoni Henderson suffered from severe burns and blunt force trauma before dying, law enforcement said at the time, adding that 911 was never called. When Harmoni's mother, Paris England, called to check in, Harris said she had fallen down the stairs and bumped her head.

The next day, Harmoni was in her bed, motionless.
Fourteen months later, Harris pleaded guilty to murder. On Thursday, the family of the victim addressed Harris directly in court before she was taken to prison.
Paris England, Harmoni's mother, spoke last.

"What'd she do? You can't even tell me the truth about what happened," she said toward the defendant. "My baby was 3. You was at her birthday party right before, right there next to me. You always been next to me. And for you to kill her, for what?"
Harris had a short statement read through her attorney after family spoke, saying she apologized "from the bottom of her heart."

"I pray for peace and for healing for everyone's heart. Most of all, I pray for forgiveness for the pain that I have caused you. If I could rewind back today, I would. I took this plea in hopes of sparing the family the pain of the trial. Paris, please find it in your heart to one day forgive me. I will forever be broken. I'm sorry."

If I was mom and she actually got out in 28 years I would beat her ass the minutes she walked out the gate.

I also would be at every parole hearing to ensure that she did her while sentence.

There was no reason for her to keep that baby and then torture her to death.
