A Waco mother was arrested Wednesday after family members reported she abused and neglected her newborn baby, causing the infant’s death, according to police.
Margaret Ann Cosby, 33, is charged with injury to a child, a first-degree felony.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Cosby’s 3-month-old son, Amir, was taken to Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center in Temple on Sept. 21 and admitted in critical condition. The affidavit says the baby was suffering from 16 fractures, brain swelling, and infection in his bloodstream and severe malnourishment, and died on Sept. 23 from his injuries.

Police spoke with Cosby, who said she had been the only one taking care of Amir, and police interviewed a young family member who reported seeing Cosby neglect and physically abuse the baby, the affidavit says. Police also learned of a Child Protective Services investigation and safety plan that had been put in place for Cosby to have supervision in caring for her children, the affidavit says.
According to CPS documents filed a day before Amir’s death, CPS was seeking to terminate the parent-child relationship between Cosby and the fathers of her three children. On Sept. 21, CPS had removed Amir and another of Cosby’s children, citing many instances of neglect and abuse, the documents say.
The documents say Cosby had not sought any prenatal care and had not taken Amir to any doctor or hospital since his birth, which occurred at home. The documents also say Cosby tested positive for opiates and PCP the day after Amir’s birth. The documents say she had also tested positive for opiates after the birth of her previous child last year, and that child also tested positive for opiates upon their birth.

Waco police investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of the child’s death, according to a press release Thursday.

CPS let here leave the hospital with the newborn?
Convict them too!

mumbles, "didn't read that... sorry."

So small and delicate, soft and precious, you just want to hold him and smell his sweet baby smell, but she beat the shit out of him like he was a grown man. I hope some big old biker chick in prison is missing her baby and needs to take out her angst on this monster that's posing as a human.
