A mother charged with the death of her 8-month-old daughter is scheduled for trial in June.

Chellbie Hudson faces child neglect causing death and child neglect creating risk of injury charges.

Investigators say Hudson and her boyfriend, William Bowen, got into an argument last June, and Bowen locked himself in a room with the girl.

Hudson left the house but left came back to find the baby unresponsive.

Hudson told police she did not contact any law enforcement during the time Bowen had locked himself in the room with the infant.

Investigators say no one else was with Bowen during the hours before Hudson returned.

Other people in the house quickly attempted to call 911, but Investigators say Hudson tried to stop the other people from calling authorities.

The 8-month-old girl was barely breathing and taken to the hospital where she later died from internal bleeding caused by blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators say she had bruising to her head and abdomen. Medical officials say the girl suffered a subdural hematoma.
The medical examiner determined the case was a homicide after the baby was taken to the hospital and died.

Hudson and Bowen are scheduled to be tried together.

We had an argument and my boyfriend’s really angry, but no I don’t find it alarming he’s locked himself in the bedroom with my helpless infant.

Maybe I’m giving her too much credit for actually thinking.

Her name should be Chellbilly.

Two shit stains accused of causing the death of an 8-month-old baby last year are set to stand trial in September.

Kanawha Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit on Monday rescheduled the trial for William Ellis Bowen IV and Chellbie Elaine Hudson after a physician, who is a witness in the case, was not available to testify.

Tabit rescheduled the trial for Sept. 16, and told attorneys in the case she expects everyone to have all their “ducks in a row,” saying the case has been pending for quite some time.

Hudson, 26, is charged with one count each of child neglect resulting in death and child neglect creating a substantial risk of serious bodily injury.

Bowen, 33, of St. Albans, is charged with child neglect resulting in death and death of a child by parent, guardian or custodian.

“I watched as my son tried to wake up my daughter,” Hudson said. “He was going ‘Come on, sissy. Wake up sissy.’ ... There was no breathing. There was no reaction. There was nothing. Just dead weight.”

Bowen is charged with murder of a child by refusal and failure to supply necessities and one count of death of a child by parent, guardian, or custodian or other person by child abuse.
Bowen originally only was charged the death of a child by child abuse, but a Kanawha grand jury last week handed up a superseding indictment against Bowen, adding the murder charge.

Rand man convicted of killing 8-month-old girl
A Rand man on Tuesday was found to have killed an 8-month-old girl by causing her fatal injuries then failing to get her the proper medical attention last year.
A jury of nine women and three men convicted William Ellis Bowen IV of murder of a child by refusal and failure to supply necessities and death of a child by child abuse shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Jurors deliberated for about 2 1/2 hours before they determined Bowen was responsible for the death of 8-month-old Lillyann Aubriana Hudson, the daughter of Bowen’s girlfriend at the time.

A St. Albans man has been sentenced after being found guilty in a baby death case from last year.

William Ellis Bowen IV, 33, was sentenced to 15 years to life on one count of death of a child by child abuse. He was also sentenced to life with recommendation of mercy on one count of murder of a child by a parent.

Bowen will receive credit for the time he has already served.

In Judge Tabit's courtroom Thursday morning, it was stated the sentences will run consecutively. Judge Tabit said that the recommendation of mercy was only granted because of the jury's recommendation.

Tabit said Bowen hadn't shown any remorse in the courtroom and called him a "violent, dangerous man."
A St. Albans woman has been sentenced to multiple years in prison for her actions that lead to the death of her 8-month old daughter last year.

Kanawha County Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit sentenced Chellbie Elaine Hudson, 26, to 3 to 15 years in the penitentiary Friday morning after she pled guilty to one count of child neglect resulting in death in August.
As part of the plea deal, Kanawha Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Adam Petry agreed to drop one charge of child neglect creating a substantial risk of serious bodily injury.

Hudson testified against her ex-boyfriend William Ellis Bowen IV as part of the plea deal. He was convicted of child neglect resulting in death and death of a child by parent, guardian or custodian following the death of Lillyann Aubriana Hudson. He will be sentenced in November.

“You left your daughter in that room with him (Bowen) all by herself when you herself were too afraid to go in there,” Tabit said on Friday.

“You knew how mad he got, you knew how he had treated her before and you didn’t like it, you disagreed with his parenting style, yet you left him there alone with her. Even though you were afraid to be with him.”

The 8-month old girl was found unresponsive and barely breathing by Hudson on June 23 of last year after being in a room with Bowen, according to Petry and Kanawha Prosecuting Attorney Chuck Miller. They argued that Bowen injured the girl and then the couple did not seek medical attention for her at their Buckeye Street residence in St. Albans. According to Petry, when Hudson arrived home and noticed her daughter unresponsive she tried to prevent people in the home from calling 911 for Lillyann. The 8-month old was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center Women and Children’s Hospital where she died.

“I do wish I could reverse the hand of time and prevent all of this from happening. I miss my daughter on a daily basis and I love her dearly,” Hudson said in court on Friday.

Hudson will get credit for 470 days served. Bowen will be sentenced in this case on November 25, where he faces a minimum of 30 years in prison.

“To me what you did and what you didn’t do and how you failed your daughter is more heinous.,” Tabit said to Hudson. “You are the very person that should have unconditionally loved her and protected her from all that.”

Absolutely awful. And this bitch comes up for parole in about 7 months I was locked up with this woman when it first happened and she lied to everybody in there and had us all feeling BAD for her!!!! She told us the baby was with a babysitter and when she came home she was dead and she was only charged because she was her mother.. mind you she tells us this pisspoor bullshit story with fucking TEARS in her eyes. Pathetic. And meanwhile her "boyfriend" was across the jail and she's still sending him love notes and painting on her cell wall "chellbie+will 4ever" "mommy+daddy". Once the truth came out the guards put her on 23hr lock down for her safety..but she was still being terrorized believe that. And I'm sure by now someone has caught her door open and mopped her..let's hope. It's the LEAST she fkn deserves. There's so many details that came out about his case that were circulating around the jail such as the boyfriend had a gun and that's what he hit the baby with, and after she was unresponsive chellbie shot her up with meth to try and get her to wake up. She was brain dead on life support for 2 days before chellbies mom pulled the plug and then chellbie tried to use that as an excuse saying her mom killed her the audacity is mindblowing.

Sadly this is my daughter’s father. To be honest, the first sign of uncontrollable anger, he was out of my house!! And he NEVER got the chance to even try to put his hands on me, and especially my baby…what’s sick is him and the girl are STILL together as of Sept 2024, and she is living with his mom and granny!! What mother allows ANY MAN that she’s only known for 2 months lock themselves in a room with their tiny babygirl, or any child for that matter??? I don’t care how “scared” she was….if someone has my baby locked in a room, best believe the doors, walls, windows AND the roof are getting blown the **** off!! That trailer they lived in was ratchet, so I know good and damn well those doors were like cardboard, you knock too hard, it will put a hole in the door! I couldn’t imagine what that baby went through!! Even to this day, my mom and I celebrate her birthday every year…and we will continue to do so because she deserved to celebrate her birthdays and she had that stolen from her, she deserved to experience life. Sadly she didn’t get the chance to know what a birthday felt like. These POS “lovebirds” will get their karma, and I’m still waiting to see Chellbies dumbass…she knows she has it coming from me.
