Two people are facing felony charges of child neglect causing serious injury after deputies said a 10-month-old was found unresponsive with broken bones and brain damage.

Wyoming County Deputies arrested Gregory Church Junior, 25 and Crystal Thomas,on Monday Jan. 1, 2018. Deputies said Thomas is the mother of the 10-month-old and Church is the live-in boyfriend.

Deputies said on December 29, 2017 the Mullens Fire Department responded to an unresponsive child call at Guyandotte Hills Apartments, just outside of Mullens.

Deputies said the baby was transported by ambulance to Raleigh General Hospital and was later flown to Charleston Area Medical Center.

Investigators were later notified the child suffered from several broken bones, brain hemorrhages, torn retinas, and torn lips and tongue. The baby is now on life-support.

Deputies said this case is still under investigation and other charges are pending.
