In a harrowing and heart-wrenching case that has shocked the community, Brian Coulter, accused of beating his girlfriend’s 8-year-old son, Kendrick Lee, to death and leaving his body to decompose for nearly a year, has chosen an unconventional path. Coulter has opted to waive his right to a jury trial.

Scheduled for February, Coulter’s trial for capital murder will be presided over by a judge, who will sift through the chilling evidence surrounding the child’s killing and make the weighty decisions of both verdict and punishment.
According to court documents, Coulter subjected Kendrick to a fatal beating in front of his siblings. The horrifying accounts provided by the surviving children detailed the relentless assault – Coulter striking the young boy in the face, feet, buttocks, back, legs, and groin. Shockingly, the brutality continued even after Kendrick had stopped moving.
The 7-year-old sibling vividly recalled the traumatic scene, where Kendrick Lee eventually ceased to blink during the assault. Coulter, after taking the life of the innocent child, callously laid out the body on the floor and covered it, as revealed in court documents.
Gloria Williams, facing her own set of charges, including injury to a child by omission, injury causing serious bodily harm, and tampering with evidence, claimed Coulter apologized to her, citing that he had “lost it” and continued assaulting Kendrick until he “went to sleep.”
In chilling testimony, Williams admitted withholding information from law enforcement because Coulter had explicitly instructed her not to. She feared losing her remaining children to Child Protective Services and worried about facing legal consequences.

With Williams remaining in Harris County Jail, both she and Coulter are scheduled for separate trials in February, each facing the consequences of their alleged heinous actions.

Why does this bitch have a fresh blowout?

The three surviving brothers of the 8-year-old boy, whose decomposing body was found in October 2021, told their story in court Thursday of what life was like living with their mother's alleged abusive boyfriend.
Brian Coulter, 34, on trial for capital murder, is accused of beating Kendrick Lee to death.

The little boy's skeletal remains were discovered by authorities nearly a year after he was believed to have been killed.
One by one, the siblings, now ages 17, 12, and 9, took the stand on day three of trial, testifying for hours about how Coulter kicked, hit, and punched Kendrick for months leading up to his death. The two younger brothers said Coulter abused them as well.

The 9-year-old, who was 7 at the time of Kendrick's death, told Judge Kelli Johnson he was in the room when Coulter killed Kendrick.
"I saw (Coulter) beat (Kendrick) up," the now-9-year-old said. "(Coulter) used his fists."

He explained that Coulter used the children's toys to beat Kendrick, specifically a Spider-Man figurine and model jet. The 9-year-old said Kendrick "stopped moving," and then Coulter "put the blue blanket on top (of him)."
The 12- and 9-year-old brothers described how they were often locked in a bedroom at the family's Alief-area apartment. Prosecutors showed photos of the bedroom door with an exterior deadbolt lock replacing the knob. The children told Judge Johnson when they weren't allowed to come out, they were forced to go to the bathroom in the bedroom.
No jury is present for this trial. Coulter opted for a bench trial, meaning Judge Johnson of the 178th Criminal District Court will rule on the case.

Coulter pleaded not guilty to Kendrick's murder. Deputies discovered his body was just a skeleton when the Harris County Sheriff's Office found it on Oct. 24, 2021.
The teen, now 17, was the only one of the three brothers to testify in the same room as Coulter but did not look at the man he once thought of as a "father figure."

The two younger brothers testified via video from another room after a Texas Children's doctor, psychologist, counselor, and their adoptive mother testified that being in the same room as Coulter could resurrect the trauma they've suffered, creating a significant setback.
The state rested its case on Thursday. Defense attorneys said Coulter will not testify in his own trial. However, his attorneys haven't said whether they'll put on a defense. The trial resumes Monday afternoon.

These boys will be the voice for Kendrick.

Years after a young boy's skeletal remains were found in a Texas apartment where his brothers were living alone, the man accused of beating the child to death is headed to prison for the crime.
Lawyers delivered their closing arguments in the case of Brian Coulter, 34, who is accused of beating Kendrick Lee to death in Harris County. Coulter pleaded not guilty, but opted for a bench trial, without a jury present.

After deliberating for about 20 minutes, Judge Kelli Johnson of the 178th Criminal District Court found Coulter guilty of capital murder. Coulter will be automatically sentenced to life in prison without the opportunity for parole.
The judge addressed Coulter, calling the case "the most horrific set of facts" she's ever heard.

"Sir, those children have haunted me this last week," Judge Johnson said to an impassive Coulter. "I hope, sir, when you're in prison, those same boys that have haunted my mind, haunt yours."

@Crazy Cat Lady @Sugar Cookie i think he must’ve joined the lesbians in jail for protection lol

I hope the brothers are doing as well as the judge says, it’s good they were able to testify remotely and not have to face him. It sounds like they have an awesome team behind them
The oldest brother did - he is truly courageous.

Gloria Williams pleaded guilty to two charges of injury to a child in connection to the death of her son, Kendrick Lee.
Mom's boyfriend, Coulter was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder. The judge called the case one of the most horrific cases she’s ever heard.
Williams was accused of knowing about her children’s abuse at the hands of Coulter and failing to intervene. She’s also accused of failing to provide food and medical care to Kendrick before he was beaten to death.

Williams is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 11.

Gloria Williams, the mother of 8-year-old Kendrick Lee, whose skeletal remains were found in an apartment along with his siblings in 2021, was sentenced to 50 years in prison, according to records.

The sentencing comes after she agreed to a plea deal for two counts of injury to a child.
Earlier this year, Coulter was sentenced to life in prison with no parole. Prosecutors said this case was one of the most horrific cases of child abuse that they've ever seen.

Williams relinquished parental rights over her children after her arrest. The two younger siblings have since been adopted, while the eldest is with a foster family, the newspaper reported.

She could have just done that before abusing these boys. She should have gotten the same sentence as her White Kang.

Before being sentenced she "expressed deep regret"

She probably physically abused the children just as much as her penis but regardless of what she did her surviving children are going to protect her.

They both should have gotten the death penalty in my opinion.

Many children in an abusive home environment have been drilled to keep their mouths shut about what goes on in the house, so their initial reactions are denial of knowledge about that. I speak from experience. After my father killed my mother, the prosecutor questioned me and my siblings with questions such as if my father beat us or was abusive. We all sat there with poker faces and after looking at each other, I said no, so my siblings echoed that. We literally bold face lied to protect my schizophrenic father and to keep our mouths shut about how horrendous our home environment really was, ruled by a violent alcoholic paranoid schizophrenic wacko. Years later, I have a hard time justifying why we did that but of course we were still in shock and trying to cope. At that time counseling was not provided for children under such circumstances.
