A teenager from Iowa allegedly murdered his former girlfriend so that she could 'feel the pain' he was enduring since their break-up, police interviews in court documents show.

Tran Walker, 18, was unhappy that Paiten Sullivan ended their relationship and stabbed her on Sunday when they were in a vehicle with a friend who was also fatally stabbed as he tried to intervene, Siouxcity.com reported, citing an affidavit filed in Woodbury County District Court.

Sullivan and Felipe Negron were rushed to the Mercy Medical Center-Sioux City, where both were pronounced dead, police said.

Walker, from Sioux City, was arrested at a local grocery store where he showed up injured. He is accused of two counts of first-degree murder and is reported to have confessed to the fatal stabbings in an interview with police.

District Judge Tod Deck sentenced Walker, 20, to a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole for the Jan. 28, 2018, stabbing deaths of ex-girlfriend Paiten Sullivan and their friend Felipe Negron Jr.

Walker did not speak at sentencing, saying only "no" when asked by Deck if he had anything to say before he was sentenced.

"I certainly hope that to whatever extent it's possible, Mr. Walker, you use your time in prison to better yourself," said Deck.
