A child killer who has spent 15 years on federal death row faces execution in January after the U.S. government reinstated the death penalty last month — ending a hiatus that began a year after truck driver Alfred Bourgeois tortured and killed his 2-year-old daughter in Texas.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr announced July 25 that the government would resume federal executions, beginning with five convicts who have exhausted their appeals processes.

Bourgeois' case shares some traits with the other four federal prisoners set for execution in December and January: Their crimes were gruesome and involved child victims.
Bourgeois, 55, is set to be executed by lethal injection Jan. 13, 2020, at the U.S. prison in Terre Haute, Ind. A Texas jury found the long-haul trucker from Louisiana guilty in 2004 of beating his daughter to death at a Corpus Christi naval base June 28, 2002.

The day she died, the girl had tipped over her potty training chair in the cab of Bourgeois' 18-wheeler. He became enraged and slammed the toddler's head into the truck window.

During the trial, the prosecution argued that Bourgeois had continually and regularly abused the child, physically and sexually, often concealing her injuries with socks and sunglasses.
Bourgeois, maintained he was innocent throughout the trial, refusing to take a plea deal, and blamed his wife for the murder.

But while in jail, he joked to another inmate that “that [expletive] baby’s head got as big as a watermelon” after he beat the child with a plastic baseball bat, court documents show.

The jury took less than two hours to find Bourgeois guilty and later recommended the death sentence.

Looks pissed to be bothered or hmmm maybe he's alive.. either way we'll take care of that for him..

In the punishment phase of the trial, eight people, mostly relatives of Bourgeois, testified that they had either been assaulted or threatened by him in recent years.

The defense called one of his sisters, a minister and a former law enforcement officer to to testify on behalf of Bourgeois. They told the jury that he was whipped by his mother as a child.

His wife, Robin, and her daughter told of extensive abuse the 2-year-old endured. Robin Bourgeois said her husband spanked the child so hard the belt broke. She said the child also was beaten with an electrical cord.

The jury also heard that Bourgeois taped the child's mouth to muffle her screams and made her drink his urine from a bottle.

"It is impossible to adequately describe the incomprehensible cruelty demonstrated by Mr. Bourgeois during his six-week torture of this two-year-old child," U.S. Attorney Michael Shelby said in a news release. "It is equally impossible to conceive of a case more deserving of the death penalty."

Prosecutors said Bourgeois staged the June 28, 2002, fall in a Naval station parking lot where he was making a delivery. The child died in a hospital a few hours later.

Bourgeois was arrested after medical personnel determined the child's injuries were inconsistent with a fall. An autopsy found more than 300 injuries including whip marks, healed scars, cuts, bruises and bite marks.

Bourgeois, a truck driver, is not a member of the military.

Why are we wasting so much money on using lethal injections for executions? Bring back the "gas chamber", but use inert gas, instead of poison. Its painless, cheap, and rather straight forward, with the added benefit of not being cruel.

Or just take some heroin seized in a drug bust and give them a massive OD. Probably a much nicer death than they deserve.

The Federal Government is set to execute five death row prisoners beginning Thursday, December 10, 2020. Alfred Bourgeois is one of the five prisoners on the list.

Bourgeois abused, tortured and beat his young daughter.

According to the Department of Justice, After a paternity test identified Bourgeois as the father of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl and a court-ordered that he pay child support to the mother, Bourgeois took temporary custody of his daughter and brought her with him on a trucking route. While on the trip, Bourgeois systematically abused and tortured her — including by punching her in the face, whipping her with an electrical cord and burning the bottom of her foot with a cigarette lighter.

All five death row inmates were convicted of killing children. If all the executions are carried out, that would make for 13 federal executions since July, when the Trump Administration resumed carrying out the death penalty after a 17-year hiatus.

Got some criminal lovers coming into the White House soon. Don't get me wrong, current administration loves criminals too, but only the ones who murder rioters and boring, dumb white collar shit committed by friends and family, the newcomers think child murderers/rapists should remain on this earth and deserve a right to live, disgusting. Trump needs to round these fuckers up and kill off as many as he fucking can as fast as he fucking can. This needs to be the #1 priority for the rest of his administration.

He killed this baby cause the mother of it asked for a paternity case, and the judge ordered child support that proves he was cheating on his wife and had an outside child.

Greed and/or not wanting his cheating ways uncovered wasn't the sole motivator. He tortured the kid over a period of time and I thought I read he was charged with sexual assault as well.

Alfred Bourgeois, 56, was pronounced dead at 8:21 p.m. Eastern time after receiving a lethal injection at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana.

His lawyers argued Bourgeois had an IQ that puts him in the intellectually disabled category, saying that should have made him ineligible for the death penalty under federal law. Victor J. Abreu, said it was “shameful” to execute his client “without fair consideration of his intellectual disability.”
In his last words, Bourgeois offered no apology and instead struck a deeply defiant tone, insisting that he neither killed nor sexually abused his baby girl. “I ask God to forgive all those who plotted and schemed against me, and planted false evidence.” And he added: “I did not commit this crime.”
