A resident at The Oaks of Daniel Island had a dream come true this week thanks to Crescent Hospice Care and Crosswind Farms.
Caregivers for Ms. Phyllis Becotte, 100, noticed her love for cows after seeing her apartment at the Oaks, which includes a shelf covered in ceramic cows. Becotte has loved and collected her whole life.
“We strive to bring joy to add that quality to our hospice patient’s lives and seek to grant wishes that do just that,” said Holly Nye, community liaison for Crescent Hospice. “With Ms. Becotte, we noticed her shelf of cows… and thought loving a baby cow would bring a smile to her face.”

Nye and the hospice facility then went to work to figure out how they could make the wish come true. The team connected with Crosswind Farms out of Holly Hill and set up the meeting between Becotte and the baby named Mulan.

When Mulan showed up at The Oaks, everyone had the chance to give her some love.
Once Becotte first spotted Mulan, Nye exclaimed, “Oh, looky there!” Afterward, when everyone was washing cow slobber off their hands, Becotte said, “No, I’ll keep that.”
