A schoolgirl who was repeatedly raped by three men after they lured her away from an Asda car park ‘wakes up crying and screaming in the night’.
The 12-year-old was ‘used, abused and discarded like trash’ by Ivan Turtak, 38, Kevin Horvath, 25, and Ernest Gunar, 27, in August last year.

The ‘complete strangers’ were found guilty following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court last week.
Now, the girl’s heartbroken parents have described how their once confident and outgoing daughter has become a shadow of her former self.
She said: ‘She doesn’t want to do anything now. She doesn’t leave the house without me, her dad, or his dad. She won’t go out of the house other than that.
‘She dragged her mattress into our bedroom when she was found. She slept in my room.

‘She’d wake up crying and screaming in the middle of the night.’
During the trial, jurors heard how the girl was abused across three locations – in the car she was lured into, Turtak’s flat in Dover, and a ‘dirty’ caravan in Folkestone.

Speaking of the moment she managed to escape, her mum said: ‘She was very brave to chance her arm and think, “I can get out of this”.

‘She said she sat there for a couple of minutes – debating whether to try it. In the end she said she ‘just knew she had to get out’ so she just went headfirst through the window.’
Horvath, Turtak, and Gunar have been remanded in custody until their sentencing on September 12, where they are all expected to be handed lengthy jail terms.
Horvath was convicted of sexual assault of a child under 13.

He had previously pleaded guilty to three charges of rape of a child under 13 and one charge of assault by penetration of a child under 13.

Turtak was convicted of rape of a child under 13.
He had already pleaded guilty to taking indecent photos of a child.

Gunar was convicted of two charges of rape of a child under 13.

He had previously pleaded guilty to one charge of rape of a child under 13.

Gunnar, Turtak, and Horvath

At Canterbury Crown Court, Turtak and Horvath were each sentenced to 17 years in prison, while Gunnar was handed a 19-year sentence.

All three men, who are Slovakian nationals, will also serve an additional three years on licence under the terms of extended sentences.
Upon sentencing, Judge Counsell said: "You recognised that she was young and might need help.

"She should have been able to seek help from you but you drugged, groomed and repeatedly raped her".
A victim impact statement read to the court said: "Since this has happened I do not have any friends any more.
“I do not go out as I worry something will happen to me again and I get worried around large groups of people.

"I am just trying to not remember what has happened to me. I want to feel normal again and be able to be around people again."

"I keep having nightmares, nightmares about what they did to me. Nightmares about them, nightmares about seeing them again. I do not feel like the same girl any more, I just want to be her again. I hope that I will be her again."
Catherine Wear from the Crown Prosecution Service said: "The three defendants took a 12-year-old from the street, took full advantage of her, plying her with drugs and using her for their own horrendous gratification.

"None of us can underestimate the impact this has had on her. When she was first found by police, she was unable to tell them what she had been put through, as she was so scared, and the details only came out gradually after that."
Gunar was convicted of two counts of rape against a child under 13; Turtak was convicted of one count; and Horvath was convicted of sexual assault.

Horvath had already admitted three counts of rape against a child under 13, and one charge of assault by penetration of a child under 13, and Gunar, who is thought to be his cousin, had also admitted one charge of rape.

Turtak initially denied rape but did admit taking indecent photos of a child.
