Laurel County deputies arrested a woman passed out in a car with a child on her lap.
Deputies were dispatched to a complaint about a woman passed out in a vehicle on the side of the road. They found Melisha Harris, from Manchester, slumped over the steering wheel. The car was off but in drive.
On Harris’ lap was an 18-month-old with only a shirt and diaper on. Deputies said the infant was shaking and cold and was starting to turn blue. The child was taken away in an ambulance. The child's internal temperature was 95.1°. Deputies said the temperature outside the car was in the low 30s when they found the child.
Deputies woke up Harris and she began fighting them. Harris was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, criminal abuse, and other charges. She was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
