A pregnant woman is charged after Metro Police said she tried to assault an officer in Old Hickory, Friday.
According to an affidavit, police were called for reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area.
Once they got there, officers located a car matching the description of the vehicle in question. Officers then approached the vehicle and found 29-year-old Cody Beneke passed out behind the wheel.
Police observed fresh needle marks in the woman's arms and said she appeared to be twitching.
At this time, police requested an ambulance, believing Beneke had overdosed.
Beneke then reportedly woke up and became irate when officers made contact with her.
According to the affidavit, Beneke then got out of her car and ran through yards.
An officer ran after the woman and attempted to place her under arrest.
At that time, Beneke swung her arms and tried to punch the officer in the face with a closed fist.
With help from the Nashville Fire Department, police were able to restrain the woman and place her under arrest.
Upon further review, police found a used syringe on the floorboard of the suspect's vehicle.
Beneke told police she is pregnant and admitted to doing heroin within 24-hours of the arrest.
