Police in Ohio are investigating after a baby girl was found dead on the driveway of a Cleveland home.
The Cleveland Police Department said officers responded to a suspected overdose at 2:17 a.m.
When officers arrived, Cleveland EMS was already treating a 39-year-old woman for an “altered mental status apparently from an unknown substance.”
“As the officers began to question and investigate what was going on, they learned that a baby was possibly nearby,” Cleveland Police Sgt. Diaz said.
The officers immediately searched the area and found the baby inside a cloth shopping bag on the driveway.
“EMS was able to assess the child and pronounced the baby dead at the scene,” Diaz said.
The medical examiner will determine the baby’s cause of death.
