Vanessa Christelle Nelson, 22, and Julian Lee Glenn, 23,are facing charges of murder after investigators say the pair exposed a four-month-old baby to fentanyl and methamphetamine which led to the child's death.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics received information back in 2021 that Glenn was a dealer of fentanyl in the McAlester area. The office received additional information in October 2023 that Glenn was traveling between Tulsa several times a week to purchase fentanyl.
OBN Agent Chuck Sutterfield said he then learned Glenn's and Nelson's child died in July 2023 and that the cause of death was still under investigation, the report states.
Agents received the medical examiner's report in January 2024, which showed the baby's blood tested positive for both fentanyl and methamphetamine. The report also showed the child also had a pulmonary edema in the lungs, which is common in opiate overdoses.
