'Permit Karen' Calls Police on Black Neighbors After Storming Their Home 3 Times & Asked if They had Permission to Build a Patio

A white New Jersey woman has been dubbed 'Permit Karen' for calling the police on her black neighbors after she allegedly repeatedly harassed them about needing a permit to install a patio in their backyard.

On Monday Fareed Nassor Hayat, an attorney and law professor at the City University of New York, and his wife Norrinda filmed the moment their neighbor, Susan Schulz, stormed their front lawn and called the police on them.

The couple said Schulz walked onto their property three times in 30 minutes to ask if they had a permit to install a stone patio in their backyard, on the other side of the fence from her yard,

Fareed said his contractor had already checked to see if permits were needed and they weren't required in Montclair for their renovation work.

Still, Schulz repeatedly demanded to know about the permits and their verbal dispute escalated to her calling the cops claiming that Fareed pushed her.

'She’s been waiting two years to do this to us!' Norrinda exclaims.

A neighbor walking her dog stops and slams Schulz for harassing the neighbors.

'Shame on you! In this climate right now, you’re especially not supporting members of our community here,' the woman says.

'Did you just see him, who pushed me 10 feet?' Schulz replies.

'I didn’t put my hands on you, woman,' Fareed says.

Back before the Dec 2015 tornado that demolished his home, my neighbor was resurfacing his pool. When it came time for the new concrete to be poured, here comes Code Enforcement telling them they have to stop because there was no permit. Turns out the city was wrong! Presumably, the city had to pay for it to be done over. You can't just stop in the middle of it. I don't know if someone mistakenly complained or if CE was just driving around looking for trouble.

You would have to be doing something really egregious for me to call and complain, because I hate that shit. If you have some little issue with a neighbor, man or woman up and go talk to them. Offer to help fix whatever it is.

One of my buddies' former business partners went through this shit with a crazy next-door neighbor. He's white, so it wasn't racial, she was just a mentally unbalanced, meddling bitch.

He bought an undeveloped lot in a very established neighborhood, I mean the houses around him are easily pre-WWII. Someone built a house back in the day, didn't want any neighbors, bought a second lot and sat on it. I have no idea how he got ahold of the lot, but he built a nice-but-not-too-nice-for-the-neighborhood house on it, and this bitch gave him nothing but trouble the entire time, including several extremely ineffectual arson attempts.

My buddy did some of the work on the house and wanted some pics of the work for his website, so I went over there one day to shoot the house. I had heard all about this lady, so I wasn't too surprised when I had no more than gotten out of my car and she was up in my personal space demanding to know who I was and what I was doing there.

I sound like a prick on here sometimes, I know, and unfortunately it's not an act. I have an extremely low tolerance for bullshit; it's just the way I'm wired. So quite often, I will jump ahead several steps in a social interaction. Some people find it offputting, a few think it's a refreshing change from the run-of-the-mill.

I jumped about three steps forward for this 'un, put on my mean face and my "big balls hangin'" voice and said "I'm Mike... and I'm minding my own fucking business. I recommend you do the same, because I'm not putting up with you or any of your fucking bullshit." She positively scampered away. Last I ever saw of her.

On the whole, this was not actually an example of overwhelming racism. It's an example of a majority of non-crazies and one neurotic, lying, piece-of-shit outlier. In the homeowner's own words:

Her efforts were also met by a collection of largely white neighbors, who refused to simply go along with her racist efforts or not stand up against her attempt to invoke the racist power of the state through police. Their efforts were antiracist ideology at work. Each neighbor declared to her and the police that she summoned, that she was a lie and no such assault occurred. She left our home, rejected and unfulfilled, yet still empowered to do future harm.

I think it will be the case that there are black racists who will be happy to disregard the fact that a small horde of white people came to the scene to support the homeowner while this nasty, crazy women continued to tell her lies. Also, I believe she would have done this to any neighbor whom she thought she could bully. Being black was likely a factor behind what drew this crested sand-worm into their lives, but just a factor, and the core of it is her neurotic shitty personality. I expect this worm-person would have done something like this to anyone she perceived as being vulnerable to her bullying.

BTW, never give bullies an inch. I think the only words this turd deserved from the homeowner were "get off of our property now or I'm calling the police for trespassing".

I become like glass when I'm dealing with someone like this... I give 'em nothing to get a grip on. Sticking to a singular declarative statement like "get off of our property now or I'm calling the police for trespassing" is a great way to go glassy.

And it really pisses someone like this off, because they can't stand to not be in control of a situation.

That's not systemic racism. None of her white neighbors wanted to corroborate her story because it's not systemic.

But no I was actually coming to say "Why can't she just be a crazy loon?" Unless I glossed over the very clear racism she expressed.

Nope we were denied permission! We're building it anyway! We're not just building a patio we're building a 3-tiered complex of patios with a Jacuzzi on top! And we're going to invite our friends from downtown and have parties!
