Tell City Couple Charged With Murder After Death Of 2YO Boy

In a press release, Tell City Police said they were called to a home for an unresponsive child on Tuesday. The boy, identified as 2-year-old Erik Reichard, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not say how the boy died.

On Friday, following an investigation, police arrested 39-year-old Trevor Reichard-Hates and 31-year-old Katherine Carter. It's not clear what their relationship to the boy was.

Both Reichard-Hayes and Carter are in the Perry County Detention Center and charged with murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death, neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent.

Carter told police Erik had been eating his diapers, which police suspect was due to hunger. The boy was 15 pounds at the time of his death; a normal child his age and height should be around 30 pounds. An autopsy showed the boy had material in his system consistent with drywall, paint chips or spackling and diapers.

During a search of the home, police noted poor living conditions, including feces on the floor in the children's bedrooms, as well as drywall, paint chips, dirt and pieces of diapers lying around. There were also insects in the home and a training toilet in one bedroom was filled with human waste and had not been cleaned in days or even weeks.

Due to the poor living conditions and suspected neglect and malnourishment, authorities removed two other children from the home.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR you were right @Sugar Cookie can i have them in my supervision pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee but i would have to keep them somewhere else not in my home i can't stand filth or stink ......... i would love to give them all my special treats but make sure they felt at home in a dirty stinky place , put them in diapers and let them eat them and what ever else they could put their hands on ... and boy i would have fun knowing they are starving i would make sure to bbq good smelling foods close enough so that they could smell it then i would then call dogs to eat it if i had to and let then hear me load and clear calling the dogs and asking them if they wanted the food as i cook too much ... boy my sadistic side is sure coming out grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

They deserve the death penalty which they won't get.

Also what ever sentence they get they will be eligible for parole after serving half of it.
