Two parents are accused of abusing their child after the infant was hospitalized in North Carolina with serious injuries.
The Wilmington Police Department said officers were called to a hospital on July 3 after a 2-month-old child was observed with “a skull fracture, broken ribs and a fractured femur.”

Police filed a report and a detective partnered with the Department of Social Services to conduct an investigation.

According to police, the investigation resulted in the arrest of the child’s parents, Marion Lever Hoffman III and Brittany Zito, on charges of felony child abuse.
Hoffman and Zito are both charged with intentional child abuse-serious physical injury and negligent child abuse-serious physical injury.
According to court records, Hoffman was also convicted in 2019 of misdemeanor child abuse. That parole sentence ended in 2022.
