"Windham Exempted Village Schools Superintendent Laura Amero, 35, has been charged with two counts of sexual battery, two counts of attempted sexual battery and one count of witness intimidation, according to WKBN, the Akron Beacon Journal and WCMH. On Monday, she pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The indictment against Amero alleges she had sex with the 16-year-old boy in 2017 and tried to have sex with the other boy between 2015 and 2017, when he was 16 and 17.

At the time of the alleged incidents, Amero was principal of Windham Junior/Senior High School, according to the paper. She allegedly intimidated an unspecified witness in March, according to WCMH.

In early April, Amero was placed on paid administrative leave, according to the Beacon Journal. She is now suspended without pay.
The district said in a statement to the paper that board members and administrators learned of Amero’s indictment Monday morning."

The former superintendent of Windham Exempted Village Schools was sentenced in court after pleading guilty to sex charges involving two teenage students, according to the Portage County Clerk of Courts.

Laura Amero pleaded guilty to sexual battery and sexual imposition after investigators say the 35-year-old had sex with a 16-year-old boy in 2017 and attempted to have sexual relations with another student when he was 16 and 17.

Amero was sentenced to 10 years in prison on two sexual battery charges and 180 days in prison on one sexual imposition charge. The 180 days will run concurrent to the 10-year sentence, according to court records.

While Amero received her prison sentence Monday, she will not report to prison until April 1. She is pregnant and her child is due in March, according to the court.

Now recordings of her police interviews have revealed shocking new details — showing that she was caught out because at least some of her depraved acts were filmed in her office, according to Fox 8 News.

Amero was picked up after a concerned parent reported her to police in March last year, with officers asking her about an intimate video being passed around by students at Windham High School.

“I heard there was a video too. And that he showed it to people on the basketball team,” Amero told the officers in her interviews, Fox 8 said.
