Teacher Debra Rosenquist
A New York teacher was accused of "manipulating" a 5th-grade girl into changing her gender without parents' knowledge or consent, causing "suicidal ideation," a lawsuit filed against a school district alleged.
Teacher Debra Rosenquist, works at the Terryville Road Elementary School in the Brookhaven-Comsewogue School District, and was named along with the superintendent, Jennifer J. Quinn, and the principal, Annemarie V. Sciove, in a suit filed on Jan. 23.

The suit claims the student, who was assigned female at birth and identifies as female, was targeted by her teacher, Rosenquist, throughout the 2021-2022 school year. Rosenquist began to use a male name and pronouns for the student, the suit says. The plaintiff student and parents' anonymity were maintained in the lawsuit.
"As a result, [the student] became confused as to her gender. Despite knowing about Rosenquist’s conduct…, it took the District, [Superintendent] Quinn, and [Principal] Sciove months to inform [her parents] about it," the suit said.
"Rosenquist pursued her own agenda outside the curriculum, which included persuading her 5th-grade students to try ‘being gay’ or being another gender even when they were not. To further her agenda, Rosenquist read and provided her students graphic books about gender and sexuality which were not on the curriculum," the suit said.

The district admitted in a meeting with the parents "that they had no idea Rosenquist taught from a book about LGBTQ+ individuals that was not part of the curriculum and how detailed the book was about transitioning, surgery, and hormones." One of the books Rosenquist used was "When Aidan Became a Brother," the lawsuit said.
The parents were supportive of supporting their child discovering their identity, but they did not believe their daughter expressed a desire to change her gender on her own. "[The parents] were incredibly concerned about the well-being of their 9-year-old daughter. They have and will always support [their child] but worried that [she] was being persuaded by Rosenquist to be transgender when she had not expressed any such inclination."
The 5th-grade girl became so "distressed by Rosenquist’s referring to her as a male that she drew a picture of a girl and referenced suicide," the lawsuit said. In January 2022, the parents were informed that their daughter drew a picture of a girl with the words "I wanna kill myself" and "I feel sad like a lot."

So, quick question; We're not supposed to call them "groomers", so no one's feelers get hurted, but they go out and do EXACTLY that! Navigating the world today is SO precarious! I don't know if I should hit a motherfucker, or run away screaming with my hair on fire! :shifty:

Hit the motherfucker and then run away screaming. No need to set your hair on fire.

NINE!! This girl was nine. I hate this shit with a passion. Groomers is the perfect term for it. Its what they are. I don't care whose snowflake feelings get hurt.

These people are disgusting, and groomers is right. You do not need to “convince” someone they are gay, or trans. It’s something they themselves just know deep inside. And a child that young should be listened to, not ever talked at, about gender and sexuality, if that makes sense.

I have told before that my oldest is trans. But they decided it for themselves, all I did was be respectful of them.

A former student of a Long Island teacher accused of forcing a fifth-grade girl to go by male pronouns has claimed she once called his entire class “sexist little children” because they were only playing with classmates of the same gender.
The unnamed student alleged during a contentious school board meeting Monday night that the teacher, Debra Rosenquist, made the remark when he was in her fifth-grade class at Terryville Road Elementary School in Port Jefferson Station.

“One time, I think there were boys in the class and girls in the class and they were hanging out with each other,” the student said as he addressed the Comsewogue School District board.
“She yelled at the whole class that we were all little sexist children,” he continued.
“I was offended personally because my best friend in the class was a girl. It was like ‘Why would she do that to me, I was just a child.’ That affected me and made me very upset.”

The Long Island family suing a teacher for forcing their daughter to use male pronouns claims the school received several complaints about the teacher, but just moved her to different classrooms — like “moving a priest around from church to church who’s abusing children,” their attorney said.
Debra Rosenquist, a fifth-grade teacher at Terryville Road Elementary School in Port Jefferson Station, is accused of confusing the 9-year-old girl about her gender identity to the point where she had suicidal thoughts.

During a hearing Wednesday, the family’s lawyer, Debra Wabnik, claimed that the school declined to take any meaningful action after receiving several complaints about Rosenquist and should bear responsibility for the child’s emotional trauma.
“At the time we prepared this complaint we did not have the benefit of the school board inquiry where parents and students who similarly had issues, major issues, including bullying and improper behavior by this teacher,” Wabnik said, referring to a contentious Comsewogue School District board meeting in March.
During the meeting, one student claimed that Rosenquist called her students “little sexist children” when the boys and girls were hanging out separately.
“The issues were the same,” Wabnik told Judge C. Stephen Hackeling at court in Riverhead. “…That’s the basis for that claim and I wish I had all that information when at the time this was drafted. Because it’s significant that she’s not the first one.”

The school district, she said, has “direct liability in the case.”

I remember 5th grade, and that's exactly what we did, girls hung out with girls and boys hung out with boys. That's about the age when girls and boys are just starting to understand the other ones might not be so bad after all. But you can't force it, it happens when it happens.

"You children are all sexist! And you, particularly, are a boy not a girl. You are all victims of the patriarchy and cis boys are bad, and you're all bad for living your birth gender! Go have same-sex male pregnancies with each other and be proud of being fat!"
