A child is dead and the child’s mother is hospitalized in what Frisco police are investigating as a murder-suicide attempt.

Officers were called out just before 6 a.m. Saturday for a welfare check.

After arriving at the scene, first responders found a mother and child in a parked vehicle.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while the mother was taken to a local hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.

Police said they are investigating this as a murder-suicide attempt.

A Frisco mother died two weeks after an attempted murder-suicide that left her 6-year-old son dead, police say.

Vasavi Vaka, 41, and her son Tejas Pachika were found March 23 in a car parked at their home.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Vaka was hospitalized due to the incident and died April 5, police say.

Police continue to investigate the incident as a homicide-suicide, but are awaiting a final autopsy report.
