Parents Bruce and Samantha Anglin were arrested after deputies found a six-year-old locked inside a wooden shed.

The child told the Luna County Sheriff's Office she could not get out and she did not have any water.
The investigation by law enforcement also found there was no electricity or running water to the shed area.
Bruce Anglin said the child was locked up because she was being punished. Samantha Anglin told investigators she tried to let the child out several times but Bruce refused, according to court documents.

Court records show there was a mattress with no blankets found inside. The shed was also described as hot, dirty, dusty, and smelled of urine and feces.

It was found the temperatures in Luna County peaked at more than 100 degrees prior to the law enforcement response. Court documents state the child did not have water for more than 24 hours.
The six-year-old and their younger sibling have been placed in the custody of the state Children, Youth and Families Department.
