The parents of a 3-month-old infant were arrested this week after the child died and the baby’s twin was found with severe injuries, according to the Cocoa Police Department.
Quentin Smith, 23, and Hannah Jones, 18, are facing aggravated child abuse charges.
Smith also faces charges of child neglect with great bodily injury and domestic battery. Jones also faces charges of child neglect with great bodily injury and failure to report an incident to law enforcement.
Cocoa police said additional charges are likely as they continue investigating.

Police in Cocoa arrested the parents of a 3-month-old infant after the child died and the baby’s twin was found with severe injuries.
Detectives began investigating the case, gathering evidence, and interviewing witnesses, leading to the arrest of both parents due to probable cause.
According to Cocoa police, the 911 call came in Thursday morning just before 11 a.m. for an unresponsive child at an apartment on North Fisk Boulevard.
“They were attempting in the home to do CPR, the patrol officers arrived took over attempts at CPR, not successful, they did not revie the child,” said Yvonne Martinez, the Cocoa Police Department’s public information officer.
The 3-month-old girl was pronounced dead later at the hospital while he sister was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, where she is currently being treated.
“Once our officers arrived, they immediately recognized signs of possible abuse. And there were two, 3-month-old infants in the house, twins. Both of them had injuries,” Martinez said.
Also in the report, both parents claiming the other handled the babies roughly.
The father reportedly admitted to biting, shaking and yanking them.
Neither Jones nor Smith have a criminal history.
