The Abbeville City Police Department said investigators were contacted on Dec. 18, 2025, about the 13-year-old girl who had given birth at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood.

Police said both the teen and the newborn tested positive for THC.

Investigators identified the father as Torren Simmons, 28.

Police said Simmons also created child sexµal abuse material involving the victim and sent obscene material to the victim.

Simmons was charged with second-degree criminal sexµal conduct with a minor, second-degree sexµal exploitation of a minor, dissemination of obscene material to a minor and criminal solicitation of a minor.
