A man is accused of shooting his mother in the face after she told him to get a job.

Giovanni Vorish, 21, was arrested Feb. 15 on a warrant and charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of battery, two counts of discharging a gun into an occupied structure and child abuse, according to court records.

A woman called police Dec. 28 to report that her son had shot her inside her apartment, according to an arrest report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

The woman said that her son was angry over the cable not working and when she told him to get a job and pay for the cable, the woman said Vorish started punching her in the face before shooting her.

Staff at University Medical Center told police the woman suffered a fractured jaw, a gunshot wound through her face and her pinky finger might need to be amputated.
Vorish was arrested Tuesday after he was found in a homeless youth center with the active warrant, according to the arrest report.
Why was this grown ass man allowed in a homeless youth center?

I would love to know what kind of boundaries were set for this young person. I see so many instances today of children with no real boundaries and so much instant gratification. I believe if you give a kid everything he wants and forfeit supervision for the newest video game, or the latest iPhone that child is going to learn from the person handing out anything and everything that he’s entitled to whatever he wants and woe unto anyone who tries to prevent or deny his desires.

Maybe this wasn’t the case, but when I see these stories, it’s the first thing I wonder. Regardless, shot his own mother in the face. She’s probably the only person who doesn’t realize that he is irredeemable. And he surely doesn’t deserve an ounce of empathy from the woman he tried to murder.

I remember when my oldest was about 13, all the boys had these very expensive coats called "Starter Jackets". Well he wanted one for Christmas, I finally found one, the team he wanted and it was about $100. In just a few days he told me that he would have rather had that particular coat with a hood on with was about $50 more. So we made a deal, he come up with the extra $50 I would take it and exchange it because I did not have $50 more for a stupid hood. Well he's almost 43 now and guess what, he still has that jacket and tells of the story of how he had to pay for half his Christmas when he was 13. But he laughs about it now. More parents need to try a little bit of tough love sometimes.

You’re absolutely right! People aren’t doing their children any favors by giving them “the world”, and actually are causing them harm. Also want to add, these grown children shouldn’t be living at home doing nothing especially if they’re causing unrest in the household (I’m sure this wasn’t his first incident). Unless you’re living in ca or ny where u need to mk at least 80k to live alone, these 20 somethings need their own place or a roommate.

You do have a point, and I think many parents are overly permissive these days --
BUT, sometimes you just get a psychopathic kid with conduct disorder and there's not much you can do about it.

A pretty spoiled kidult, there. He looks the same way Ben Simmons would if he was a video gaming couch potato his entire life, as opposed to just the last few months when he didn't want to play for the 76ers.
